A lovely overall experience for our one night cycling break. Quick friendly check in Fresh milk, good quality tea in the room . Very comfortable. Very tasty evening meal. All expertly cooked and very helpful and friendly staff. Lovely beer garden. It is a proper old English Pub and good to see it
What a lovely pub and a great meal. Staff were very accommodating and the pub was very atmospheric. We read it’s advisable to book, so we did, and I would pass this advice on- was really busy especially for a Monday night which only goes to show how popular it is.
Ordered a cream tea and the scones were very good. The server forgot the tea though and we had to ask for it after eating the scones. Service is poor. A but pricey for a cream tea but beautiful beer garden at the back. Recommended if passing through.
We had a stunning stay at the Castle Inn. The rooms have a lovely mix of elements of the old building, but with all the modern luxury. We also were lucky enough to have a delightful dinner, also with a great choice of veggie options. The only regret was that we could only stay one night
Enjoyed a Monday lunch. Food was delicious. Service attentive. Always had consistent experience here over many years camping locally. A delight on our trip.

Just had the best lunch for a long time. The Venison was cooked perfectly, moist, tender and delightfully pink😋😋😋. Also it was a pleasure to be served by exceptionally friendly and impeccably dressed staff. A real gem of a pub👍👍👍👍👍

Went here twice in three days for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it ! Would have gone again if we weren’t leaving. Try this fab cosy pub, you won’t be disappointed .
Nice pub, friendly staff. Food was a little dissapointing. Veg option Thai Curry was tiny, pork loin was as tough as old boots, tasted OK but hard to cut up.
Service is always A1 here. I come with a fussy family but we are always happy with our meals.
I will say the value for money depends on what you appreciate from a meal out. For me I would say it's worth the price.
Will definitely come back, ample free parking , beautiful old building with cosy clean rooms, modern bathrooms, high quality tea and coffee in rooms , great bar and coal fire etc friendly staff friendly cat and fantastic location absolutely loved it
Beautiful place. Great beer garden. Tasty food. Great staff member on outside bar who took time to chat. Accommodation across the road was amazing.
