My in-laws, husband & I drove up to Oban for a night - in the evening, we were out walking along the front, in the rain !!, when the lights on attracted us to pop in for a quick snack .. we were expected for dinner a little later, but who can resist the smell of hot chips ?!? The chaps behind the counter were friendly & chatted away telling us a little about Oban & their shop. We got haggis, black pudding & a portion of chips - I know, no fish ! but the food was great & the chips brilliant. There is a pic of Rick Stein on the wall rating the fish & chips as the best so we were in good company .. we continued along the front happily munching on our take-away & resisted the urge to go back for a 2nd portion ..

Highly recommend the fish tea. Lovely meaty fish in a light batter with golden chips. First class service and clean toilets.

Explored oban today, visiting various beautiful sights around the local area, as well as checking out restaurant menus and sitting areas and their kitchens when possible. I checked out multiple chippies, and upon entering this establishment my party of 4 all agreed this place was perfect. The cook was preparing fresh haddock and cod when we entered, inspecting them and preparing them to be battered for incoming orders. It all seemed very sanitary and other customers food all looked very appetising. The cook was quick to check if we're looking to get takeaway, or to sit in and eat. We of course informed him we'd be sitting in, and he informed us that we'd have to wait at least 10 minutes as the seating was full, and there was 4 of us, but we happily waited after seeing other people's food, and the way everything was being prepared. We waited roughly 10 minutes, a couple did enter and stand infront of us seemingly hoping to be seated first, but we weren't forgotten and got sat down first. The staff are lovely and friendly, as well as very helpful and informative, as I was unsure what the soft drink Firefly was, and also wanted to know the difference between the Haddock sizes are. A large Haddock is actually one and a half Haddock which seemed to big, so we got a single Haddock supper each. The Haddock arrived with a perfectly light and crispy batter and the Haddock itself was fresh and meaty - absolutely perfect. It is served with a slice lemon. The chips came perfect as well - crisp coats with a soft potato interior that had a great crunch. The mushy peas had seemingly been seasoned and tasted really good.

Have been visiting this chip shop for over twenty years when we are on holiday and must say it's still the best in Oban . The service is excellent the staff are all friendly and attentive. But the star of the visit has to be the haddock and chips ,simply outstanding everything is freshly cooked to order piping hot and delicious. Cannot recommend highly enough.

The best fish and chips ever! We had the haddock, chips, perfectly seasoned peas and a fabulous curry sauce that was indicative of Katsu. A perfect stop. £25 for two.

I had the traditional fish and chips with cod and my friend had the sea food chowder. I got a large portion of fish with my chips. It was very good. But my friends seafood chowder was awesome. A definite recommendation. The waitress was friendly and the service was quick. We almost didn’t eat here because the toilet was plugged but before we left the plumbers were on the job. We were glad we stayed.

Delicious haddock and chips. The haddock was fresh and well-fried, and the chips were crispy. Service was excellent too - our waitress was friendly and made sure we were well-tended to. Definitely a place to come to for fish and chips if you are in Oban! (Do note that tartar sauce is separately chargeable.)

Absolutely fabulous haddock and chips with mushy peas. Not greasy, lovely batter. Mac and cheese had by daughter made with creamy red Leicester cheese - delicious. Dog friendly too which was a winner for us. We sat in. Highly recommended.

I am a bit of a sucker for a good fish and chips and this place does a really good one. Lovely fresh haddock, freshly cooked in batter and not greasy. With perfectly cooked chips, homemade mushy peas and homemade tartar sauce. I ate in their little restaurant area and left a happy chappy.

This is hands down the best fish and chips I've ever had! The mushy peas..to die for! Great service, clean place, didn't smell fishy or with a fry smell. Hubby and I stopped in for lunch in November 2022 and we are still talking about it to this day (which is why I'm writing this review so late 😅) Highly recommended for anyone looking for a great place to eat.

Great service. Very good food. We happen to stumble onto it and it was a great find. Food was very good. Appears to be family run with a gentleman who appears to be in his 50’s with his children running. They were very professional. It did become cramped with a large group of tourists. The fried haggis, fish and chips were delicious.
