Great food, unpretentious. I had the biggest steak and mushroom suet pudding I've ever seen. Probably won't move for the next week!

A real gem in Nuthurst, not far from Horsham in West Sussex. The food is great, the service as well, we always go back and take our friends there, too. There are not many places these days where you always want to come back, but this is one of them. Thanks to the chef for tonight's venison burger which was great and so was the chicken, leek and gammon pie. And panna cotta never fails. Hophead and Thatchers, and we were sorted, lovely. Thank you.

Just stunning, so much history, incredible location. Interior just spot on except the artificial flowers in the ladies toilet (terrible). Service was fast and good. Both waitress and the waiter was nice and friendly. Food was just excellent as the pub itself. Worth the visit. Definitely I will go back.

Lovely country pub, beautiful setting and friendly, attentive staff. Food was great, including really, really good chips (and great homemade tartar sauce), especially excellent pies and delicious puddings too - crumble and cheesecake extra recommended.

Always nice food here. It's often quiet during the day. Lovely little garden out the back. Some nice walking paths go almost to the door.

Great roast on Sundays, and lovely ales available on tap (including those from longman brewery). If you’re thinking of coming here for a pub lunch you won’t regret it - delicious!

Very friendly staff and a great choice of good quality food. Could do with a slightly bigger choice of gins but that's personal choice. There are a few tables out the front and a lot more out the back (I feel more relaxed outside in the current climate). Service was quick and with a smile. We'll definitely be going again

We had a wonderful lunch at The Black horse The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Was so lovely to go back after many years and see that it was still the special place it was before.

One of the best village locals you will find. This low beamed Grade II listed pub is friendly, and dog friendly, with well kept real ales, a winter log fire, and reasonably priced chef prepared food. Try the Sunday roasts, but make sure you book. Watch out for the aparitions, particularly the 'Black Hound of Nuthurst', and the 'murderer' who moves objects across a window table in full view. Reputedly one of the most haunted pubs in Sussex.

This is a Lovely place to have a nice lunch. I went with. My dear friend J who I haven't seen for Ages. Plus an unexpected also munch, by the name of Sir Bastian!! Sir was a new member of the household so K had to call in advance to check they could cope with a visiting lord? "They could! So off we set. The pub is very pretty and all beams with solid tables and chairs. We were asked where we'd like to sit? and due to Sir Bastian who was greeted with great deference, we sat in a little nook off the main bar, where we were surrounded by books, a lovely area we could catch up in. The menu is printed on line, as well as on the bar, so we wasted no time in organising bowls of sweet potato soup, which came with the dearest, hot, dinner rolls and their accompanying pats of butter. I digress here for a mo. as I Know some of you will be wondering Where, he who wanders off, has wandered off to? I Did mention a few weeks ago. That he's unfortunately Very ill! having been captured by bandits of the, we'll make you as very ill as its Possible to make you variety! and is currently serving time in a not too local hospital! I shall keep you all informed!! Back to the pub! Sir Bastian who skipped the starter to make plenty of room for the main course decided, with J, to opt for steak and ale pudding, with seasonal vegetables, which when cut, glistened as the thick, dark gravy spilled from the suet crust! I, as you know, Don't eat meat, so I had the fish platter, a cold concoction of prawn, smoked salmon, peppered mackerel, Marie rose sauce and mayonnaise with shrimp, which also came with those delightful little hot rolls, none of us drank alcohol, Sir Bastian and I because we Don't and J because she was travelling on to town later, as she'd booked to see a show, so I had mango juice and J a fizzy concoction, our esteemed guest dissented.. J and I, settled on blackberry and apple Crumble with lashings of thick steaming custard! Sir Bastian was still eating his meat pudding, he'd skipped the veg, due to having had a substantial breakfast! J ended her meal with a frothy coffee and I had a small glass of milk. The ambience in the pub was lovely, the service swift and the food fresh and tasty. When we left we were assured they would be delighted and honoured to welcome us all again and how they'd never had a Sir there before! The waitress shook hands with him and commented on how quiet he was, just having sat on hur chair quietly watching her as she got on with her work
