Nice little find. Good vibes, good music, friendly service. Only let-down was that some of the dishes were far too oily to enjoy and ended up being wasted as we didn't want to take it away either. Veggie tacos, stuffed peppers and plantain was good.

Decided to eat at Spice Cay today as it was too late for brunch. Listen 👏🏾 to 👏🏾 me. This could challenge your home town favourite Caribbean take away. We had the Roadtrip Escovitched Fish, Mac n cheese with two rices Seasoned Vegetable Rice and Rice & Peas. Finger licking good. My husband and I were well impressed. The young ladies servicing were friendly and sweet. Definitely will be visiting.

We got 1 main dish each and then a few sides to share between 3 and that was more than enough! Would definitely recommend the taco doubles they were huge and really tasty. Plantain was cooked perfectly and would also recommend the chickpea curry. Great veggie options!

Been meaning to try this place for a while and wish I hadn't waited so long. The food is absolutely divine. I had the curried goat (the meat was cooked on the bone just how I like it so you get the rich flavour from the bone marrow), stuffed peppers with sweet potato curry and the salt fish fritters. The curry that filled the peppers was superb, really savoury flavour, I could happily eat a bowl of that on its own. The salt fish fritters were a nice delicate balance to all the rich flavours from the curries and very filling. The array of cocktails on offer looked very tempting, next time I visit I'll remember not to drive.

Went out for a lunch for two at the newest Caribbean joint in town. This one is actually a restaurant located in the heart of the city and at last it seems that we have a potentially superb black-owned eatery in Nottingham! It seems that the progressive way forward with eating out Caribbean is tapas style. Having recently dined at Wood & Water in Brixton, I'm warming to what seems to be the "in ting" format for presenting our food. And I have to say Spice Cay is doing it very, very well. Starting with the cocktails ordered, they didn't pull any punches! Nice to know that such an eatery can pull its weight in the cocktail stakes by offering tasty, full bodied, alcoholic concoctions. On to the "mains", all of which were presented in tapas dishes which gives those unfamiliar to Caribbean food a good way of sampling a number of mouth-watering dishes. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the speed at which the food items arrived had me flabbergasted. Could this herald a new era for the Caribbean food service landscape? I have to give special mention to the escoveitch whole fried fish. Talk about being spoiled. Absolutely yummy and great that they have whole fish on the menu. Had to talk with the owner Clinton afterwards to let him know just how good the experience was and to wish his business well. He also shared that he hopes to have live dj for evening sessions in the New Year (there was reggae music playing in the background throughout our time there). Okay, so you can see I've only given 4 stars in each category. This is because we dined at a relatively quiet time of day, between lunchtime and the evening. The proof of the pudding will be when I sample the full evening service and see how the restaurant measures up. So I've given myself room to score more highly given the opportunity, and of course their chance to excel themselves!

What a truly wonderful experience from arrival at the restaurant to departure The restaurant had a great buzz and the decor and music matched the Caribbean theme. Staff were extremely friendly and competent. We were kept updated at all times and wait times were minimal especially given all the food is authentic (cooked from scratch) We were treated to a special roti and curry which will soon feature on the menu. It is a must have. All the dishes tasted like it was cooked by someone from the islands. The cocktails are a must try as well… so if you just want drinks and a catch up, I would also recommend. Winning dishes: roti with curry chicken , festivals, Achee and Saltfish, Oxtail, Fush bites, Macaroni Cheese and Rainbow slaw. I will be back soon to try the other many dishes.

Came here for my birthday with family and we were blown by the quality of food. The chef kindly modified one of our dishes to make our experience that much more enjoyable. The interior and menu is on-brand being colourful and fun. We cannot wait to come back and try the rest of the menu. The staff went the extra mile as the table was decorated for my birthday and we were seated by the window as requested.

Finally an authentic Carribbean restaurant in the city centre. Small plate dining, with no restriction on flavour. We visited Saturday night, and had the pleasure of good music to match good food. Service was brilliant. Really hope this place continues to do well, it's a little gem.

Very friendly staff and nice vibe! Wings and jerk chicken were really good but plantain was a bit dry. I also really liked the curry goat.
