The fish is brilliant quality and the chips are great! Quick service and somewhat resembled a factory line with the efficiency. Archetypal British chip shop. Very happy :)
The best place to go. Always use them, polite great banter and are courtesy. So helpful. If you try anywhere try them. We'll worth it.
I have been coming to this fish and chip shop for about half a century!!! It's been run by the current lovely people for about 20 years. I honestly wouldn't and don't go anywhere else for a chip shop. We always order a small fish which is made freshly when I order and it fills the plate so I can only imagine the size of a regular fish! Portions of chips are extremely generous too. The kebabs are always good, pies, sausages, gravy, mushy peas, etc, are always hot and fresh. You always get smiles and a friendly welcome when you go in. It's always nice and clean and there's 2 or 3 tables should you wish to sit inside. Overall, it's the best chippy around!

Had our Ark Church Afternoon In Christmas Party today and Arthur and Elizabeth provided the cod and chips. The quality was again excellent even though we ordered a batch of 23. The service they provide is exceptional.
Best Fish and Chips you’ll ever have. Very friendly and polite staff. Excellent service. I won’t go anywhere else for my fish and chips. I regularly take my 99yr old elderly neighbour as a treat, maybe once a fortnight, we eat in and have fish, chips and peas and then a mug of tea to wash it down. The staff are wonderful and can’t do enough to cater for her. They really do look after their customers. Plenty of parking spaces and a few good shops nearby also.

Lovely place. Food is excellent and always hot and fresh the chips are the best in the area. Clean and very well presented location with off street parking outside with more shops to look around. Situated in a great place and you have the option to eat in as well and this always reminds me of being on holiday so happy memories. The staff are extra friendly and always happy to help. The place is very clean and tidy. I would recommend the sausage chips and mushy peas.
Great staff, always friendly and helpful. They serve brilliant food. Quite a selection for a chippy with good old fashioned home made chips not the frozen fries. Very clean and tidy, great atmosphere with an option to eat in as it has a few large tables. We go quite often as they serve some of the best chips in the area and are great for a family meal with fussy eaters and are not expensive at all. They also sell jacket potatoes with a selection of fillings or even a fresh salad box for those wanting a healthier chippy meal.

I first wrote this review over four years ago, and it was a simple one-liner saying they did great chips and the staff were friendly.
Nothing has changed in any way for the worse, but I also wanted to point out that I have more recently ordered fresh cod on a few occasions and specified what time I will pick it up. They happily cook it for me so that it is straight out of the fryer when I get there. And a 'large' piece of cod IS large, and it IS cod.
Since Covid, they have been taking card payments. Several lower-rated reviews criticise the £5 minimum order charge for that. However, a card machine isn't something you just buy and forget about - they are usually rented and carry a transaction fee with each purchase, especially if they are the business machines. And I know, because I use them.
If you got a load of school kids going in ordering a cone of chips and paying via the machine, the shop would go out of business pretty quickly since the fees would wipe out any profit.
Then, what is genuinely a fine chip shop would disappear.
Food is great, service is great. The staff are always very good and can have a laugh with you. My only problem is the furnishings the chairs are very worn and the tables wobble. But you can always takeaway.
