Delicious food. We tried most of the veggie dishes and they were tasty! Lovely place shame it was quiet.
Went for an early dinner on a weekend. Didn't realize the plates were really tiny. I get that this is similar to the chaat places back in India but even there we definitely get reasonable quantity. You would need to order quite a lot of items to feel full. The food was really tasty though and will visit again. Probably best to go in for tea time for snacks or such. Don't really recommend this for a proper meal time.
We had a lovely family lunch at Kar-o-bar. The staff were friendly and enthusiastic about their new venture, and we loved the selection of food: some more familiar dishes and some unusual ones. All were excellent, and our 3-year-old also had fun. It was great for a weekend lunch, but the bar looked well stocked too. Highly recommended.
Finally, it is something what Nottingham has been missing so far. It is, in fact, an Indian Tapas restaurant. Follow the standard of three tapas and you are satisfactorily done. It is not a fine dining place or an eatery that gets expensive in no time or a cheap curry house. The items are reasonably and sensibly priced. If you are looking for naan and chicken tikka masala, please re-consider since you might be a bit disappointed for not finding 'em there. This place offers street food from different Indian regions, very hard to find outside India. I would say an accomplishment is that the food remains spicy but without being too overwhelmingly or underwhelmingly spicy. I am a vegetarian and ordered Bhel Puri (£3.5), Chilli Paneer (£5) and a side of Basmati Rice (£1.5). Bhel puri is an extremely popular afternoon snack in northern part of India. I was glad that their recipe lived up to expectations. Red onion garnishing is good but Pomegranate garnishing is rare even by Indian standards so 5 out of 5. Chilli Paneer is a famous fusion dish made of Indian cheese (paneer) with spicy Chinese sauces and veggies, tri-color peppers and large chunks of white onion. And, the result was good. Their basmati rice recipe has not only cumin but also some onion mixed into it, which gives it a nice velvety touch. I did not order any drinks so can't say anything about their bar. After a 25% introductory discount, my dinner bill was £7.5. Can't complain. Strongly recommended!
