Lovely pub, good old fashioned traditional pub food (not served on bits of roof tile or unhygenic wooden chopping boards, no fancy fashionable brioche buns) just plain lovely meals. Staff are very friendly and helpful, the pub itself is very clean and has a lovely beer garden. Will definitely be making this place our favourite go to for a pub lunch... and we're not even local to the area! Keep up the good work
On 6/8/16 we had our wedding reception at the nags head. It was such a lovely venue for the reception with such a large space outside for photos and even fireworks! The food was really good and when planning the wedding with Clive we were given so much choice of what we could have which was great. The staff were so professional and attentive to our guests. The decoration that Kim did for us was amazing, the place was transformed and all of our guests commented on the decorations. The amount of work that Kim put in and attention to detail was great. It is such a lovely pub with wonderful staff and they created a perfect venue for our wedding reception, thank you :)
Apart from being a super place, food and staff, we would like to thank you for an amazing day in York. The organisa Sharon and Briantion was superb, and thank you again for your help with our seating arrangements. Cannot recommend you highly enough.
We go on special dates like birthdays, anniversaries etc, it's a special place for us, the food is fantastic staff so friendly, lots of choice menu, a relaxed atmosphere, a cosy old fashioned pub.

We went with friends and was not disappointed, the food was fantastic, and the place was warm and welcoming, the young lady behind the bar Toni took our order and made recommendations, I went for the lasagne, thank you Nags Head lovely visit.
I’ve been here a few times with my dad now who has Alzheimer’s, both times I’ve let them know ahead of time and they’ve been happy to accommodate my request of being tucked away in a corner. The service has always been exemplary and the staff take their time and understand it isn’t always easy. The food has been great each time, especially the puddings which went down a treat. This will definitely be my go to place for our dinners together so thank you for making it that little bit easier 🥰
Had a beautiful Sunday dinner here for me and the wife.Food was excellent and we even got a surprise Easter egg bundle, highly recommend this pub
First visit this week, will be going again, extensive menu, good traditional pub food well cooked and not expensive
We had a wake after a funeral and Clive and the staff put on a lovely selection of food, just enough for the guests that were attending. Left peacefully despite the pub serving lunch you'd never know from our little space separately behind the main bar.
Respectful amd well staffed and of course its nice on occasions like this that myself and the persons who's funeral it was were remembered by Clive the owner and it all felt sombre, respectful and sincere (a strange thing to say You might think, however, my point is having eaten Christmas dinner here with my father-in-law. Many, many times and Eaten meals In the evening and at lunch... its Safe to say whatever it the occasion they will accommodate you)
Lovely atmosphere and food. Staff very friendly. As the pub was busy there was a substantial wait for dessert and we had to query how long it would take as we had young children with us. Nothing to prevent me from returning again as the food was delicious.

We visited the Nags for the first time a couple of weeks ago for a lunchtime meal. We all enjoyed our meal, the beer was well kept & the staff were great. Not much else to say appart from we will be back.
Great service was surprisingly very busy but were seated in a quieter part of the pub , which was very nice. Nice choice of menu, didn't really have to wait long but told as its busy maybe a wait ,not at all. Food was excellent ,one of the best steak and ale pies ive had in ages, great veg and nice new potatoes.
Family Sunday dinner for 8. Lamb, beef, and turkey, all of which were lovely. One of the parties is gluten free, the Nags have a good selection of gluten-free food.
