First of all, Mario is such a lovely guy, he was such a laugh & great to talk to whilst I waited. He was also really patient with me whilst I tried to make my mind up which I appreciate a lot as a bit of a scatterbrain. The food here is all absolutely delicious, and you can see the quality & freshness of it all as soon as you walk in. I wasn't sure what size fish to get & Mario held the different cuts up to help me decide & then put them in the fryer once I'd decided & I could see that they were fresh & good quality fish. The chip portions are very generous & the Mushy peas & curry sauce are beautiful & super tasty. The chippy itself is so clean, you can see the kitchen area from the waiting area & it's spotless. The chippy accepts cash & card so there's an option for everyone depending on your preference. This is absolutely one of the tastiest chippies I've been to, & definitely the friendliest. I decided to try Oakdale Chippy because they're always winning the top spot in the Nottingham Post's Best Fish & Chips vote & it's very clear to see why! I'll be coming again & would recommend them to anyone.

Easily the best chippy in the area ! Very friendly family run business. The food is always great quality and really tasty. ( the fish cakes have lovely flakey fish inside rather than mush you get from other chip shops ) highly recommended!

I ordered a 15" pizza box meal which was really big they needed sellotape to close the box. The chips was sooo nice. If anyone is wanting a takeaway for a few people this would be good for that

Came here for the very first time on my way home from work and first of all the staff were brilliant and so friendly. I got fish and chips which were all so fresh and hot when I got home and great portions! He also gave me a sample of donner meat to try as he said his was the best and tbf he was right. Also shout out to them for frying in rapeseed oil which is the healthiest to fry in! Will be coming again!

Summary: Good food, great taste, reasonably priced (especially considering COVID more on that later), excellent customer service with a joke and a smile and one thing many businesses miss - memory. So nice to go in, even after a time away, and be remembered. If you require disabled access there is a ramp into the shop. Thank you. Will obviously be back. After living in the area for over five years and having used this chippy rather a lot it pains me to think I have never left them a review until now. A failing on my part! Firstly the food. I come from the South West and lived on the coast where I could get fish straight off the boat and take it across the road to get it fried (for a fryer's fee). Simply the best you can get. As we're in the middle of the country I have never expected that much. However, the fish here is outstanding and very professionally fried. The chips are good wholesome old fashioned chips which bring back memories although, and this is quite important, they have no greasy feel or taste to them. Sausages are of high quality, my mother always said you can gauge a place by the sausages. She wasn't wrong in my experience. Fishcakes are really nice and anything battered is excellently cooked to leave it crispy as it should. Talking of my mother she visited last week and I took her here. She "took a chance" (her words) on the fish and was far from disappointed. Her words "I've not had good fish that flakes like this for a long time" - that I can assure you is very high praise. Next up Staff. Yes I have intentionally used a capital letter there. The family are friendly and willing to cater to almost any request, I've often thought about how I could challenge them but that's just in my nature. I do enjoy going in knowing that when I do, if I'm waiting for food or food being wrapped, then I know there's always opportunity for some good conversation. It is always nice to be remembered too. After COVID it was hard for me to get out and one of the first places I did venture to was here. Nothing had changed. Their enthusiasm for their business and customers had not changed. They suffered very badly during and after COVID - energy prices almost crippled them! If you're prepping good quality food for a large number of people and trying to keep your prices down then you have your back against the wall with the floor crumbling beneath you. They not only managed this but have once again started to thrive. Top notch place, eat here and you won't be disappointed. There would have been photos this time but the kids and I scoffed the food up before we had chance to grab a phone for one of those annoying food pictures I hate to see on social media. NOTE: I have not received any products or services for this review.

Brilliant customer service from the staff and very generous with portion sizes. Would recommend :)
