Loved the evening at Oaks...
Lovely atmosphere, great for couples and family visits!
We were instantly greeted by happy staff who took our order.
From start to finish we could not have asked for more, great attentive service, freshly prepared major oak burger cooked just on point was sooooo finger licking gooooood....
Overall definitely recommend if you love meaty meals such as burgers, steak, hot dogs etc.
Definitely recommend!!!!!
There are very few meals more satisfying than really good sausage and mash. It’s the ultimate comfort food. The key to sausage and mash though, is the quality of the ingredients. With such a simple dish, both the sausage and the mash need to really shine, and at Oaks Restaurant in Nottingham, they really do.
On my recent sojourn to Zaap, as you might recall, I walked past its neighbour ‘Oaks’; a restaurant that had been on my “to go” list for a while, as a food blogger you quickly wrack up a ton of these. But what was in stark contrast was that Zaap was full to the brim with its loud interior whilst Oaks sat quietly on the side, almost fortress like; they even had to resort to a ‘we-are-open-the-doors-are-closed-only-to-keep-us-warm’ sign. So I wondered why, what looked like a beautiful restaurant with, generally, great reviews on the whole was deadly quiet on both my little peak through and on my actual visit.
Oaks Restaurant is a relatively new addition to Nottingham’s food scene, but word has clearly spread fast. Every table was filled! Their speciality? Locally sourced grilled meats, cooked in the open-kitchen.
With its super cool décor (think wood and quirky light fittings), mood lighting, and DJ later in the evening, Oaks is a restaurant that could sit comfortably alongside the hipster hangouts of Shoreditch.
OAKS in Nottingham finally opened its door to the general public on the 16th July and I for one was quite excited. I had read about its concept and plans a couple of months ago in the Nottingham Post, and since I have been waiting for ages to come and dine there. More recently I had been fed titbits of information through the usual Social media and from Tank PR, who along with Oaks, had helped me with the chance to come along to try out the food.
Decent steak restaurant in city centre. Came for the £9.99 Rump steak Thursday deal. Starters were good however felt that there was too much sauce on the ribs and the prawns didn’t feel grilled. The rump steak was slightly tough, however appreciate that could just be the cut of the steak. Given the 4 stars because of the excellent service from Ilyada who looked after me during my visit.
Was a lazy wonder around town on a rare day off work and stubbled across this place .... Well worth the visit!
Friendly staff that actually help you choose what you'll enjoy and not the left over dishes.
Food is generously portioned and so good
(We'll be back!!)
I went for Sunday lunch, we were able to sit even if we didn't book a table in advance. The food was good, service and ambiance as well. I'm not giving 5 stars because afterwards I put a picture on instagram and oaks decided it was a good idea to screenshot and repost as theirs my picture. I mean come on, just credit me!!
Excellent steaks, possibly the best I've had this side of the Atlantic. Service was friendly although one of the waiters was not clear about menu items and an error was made with the bill. However, this was quickly put right. I will happily go back.
Great burgers and a good steak too, and loved the decadent milkshake we tried (picture attached).. There is even a giant burger challenge for a chance to get your name and pic on the wall if you finish it in time, will be trying that one next!
I went on a Thursday and had the steak deal which was really good value. They do a lovely monster shake too.
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Not to many varieties as in old menu special for the grilled chicken and sausages. There are daily offers as eat as you can ribs or wings day, burger offer day. Better to book your table before going.
Sunday lunch was good, gravy could be thicker, and perhaps more veg.

Really awesome value(at least on the foodie Thursday menu) the chorizo was excellent and the live music was just great on top, would've been okay with paying nearly double.
Wow, I am blown away by the quality of this little spot, definitely worth a taste. The meats are excellent and lots of great drink pairings
I had a great lunch here. £7 salad and coffee. Fully recommend.
We had the Mac and Cheese for a change. We usually have burgers. It was amazing!
Came in on a Thursday evening by myself as away with work and was surprised that the place wasn't busier. I took advantage of the £9.99 rump steak deal which exceeded my expectations completely, perfectly cooked and up should be at least £15 so don't let the small price put you off. Wine was really good and service couldn't of been better. Great place they've got here either for a meal with friends or partner.
Visit approximately every 4 months for a Sunday lunch. Recent changes to the manner in which food is served has not affected the high quality of the meal. Food is very good (beef beautifully pink, and vegetables not overcooked, nor tasteless) and served hot. Food waiting times will be affected by how busy the restaurant is - but staff will update you - it has a decent bar and pleasant informal ambience, in which to chat with your company. Serving staff have always been excellent; informative, attentive & helpful. (One of the best traditional Sunday lunch offerings in Nottingham).
Visited last week. Went with some friends that have been before. Found the wings and ribs too spicy ( I can't deal with spice). Our server Tevin, was awesome. Recommended a burger and took my portion of ribs and wings off the bill. He couldn't do enough for us. Also brilliant burger!
The honey dew beer and black pepper chicken was amazing. The apple tart was better than the chocolate
