We were at this place on two separate nights and the experiecnes have been consistently good.
This place specialises in Sichuan and Cantonese food (despite the name :p), I was told at ordering. We ordered mainly Cantonese dishes and they didn't disappoint. The fried ho fen with pork (my husband doesn't eat beef) was especially good - apparently they make their ho fen in house. The stirfried lamb with cumin on both occasions were soooo good - I just hope it could've been of a bigger portion for full satisfaction. :) Aubergine with sea spice sauce and dry stewed fine bean with minced pork were also tasty and worked very well with the generous portion of rice. We didn't like the Kung Po Chicken though - no nuts and it tasted a bit too sweet to our liking.
The service was excellent - waitresses so efficient, food served fast, and credit card accepted (for transactions over 10 quids).
Overall, we were quite pleased to find this place and will surely go again.
One of my friends tried their takeaway π₯‘ and it smelt nice. Therefore we decided to visit the restaurant during the weekend.
We ordered 3 dishes
~ π¦ θθ₯鴨 Roast Duck with Ginger & Spring Onion

² Fish Fillet with Bean Curd Casserole
~ π₯¬ θθη½θ Garlic Pak Choi
β The food was served fresh and very quick service. However, the roast duck was a bit lower than our expectation π€ as the portion of duck was little compared to the amount of onion. But overall the food tastes great π

Food was amazing especially the chefβs special pork!! Love the service too and would definitely come back for it again π
I thought it was a Shanghai restaurant, but It was a Canton and Sichuan restaurant. Not bad, very tasty. Service is also quite good. I will be back again if I have the chance.
Shared salt and pepper spare ribs, steamed dumplings and satay chicken for starters before I had the braised pork and my father had a noodle soup. All food was exceptional and came very quickly. Value was excellent too!
Overall Experience
1. Roasted duck - marinated well, would be better if skin is crispier, savoury dish
2. Chilli oil chicken - chilli oil is amazing, chicken is tender but has a lot of bones, would prefer it to be a bit more salty
3. Beans, potato and aubergine - savoury, aubergine and potato should be caramelised with a crunch layer
4. Service - friendly staff
5. Serving time - 20 mins
6. Affordability - a bit pricy
7. Atmosphere - clean
Amazing. We initially we had tried to go elsewhere Cantonese, but we were turned away because it closed at 8pm. So we walked up to Shanghai Shanghai. Itβs a very plain looking restaurant with a cafe type look. But was full of Chinese people. I think that tells how good it was going to be. Weβre so glad we tried it. The food was amazing, service was good, price was what you expect in town. Try the salt and pepper chips. Wow!!!
Loved it 10/10
I'm a big fan of authentic Chinese cuisine, and this restaurant is a must try!
Certainly the best in Nottingham.
Good portion sizes, a wide range of menu options and exceptional food.
Customers can expect to pay Β£8-10 per person.
First time to here and unexpected good Cantoneses food, specially the HK style Dry Fired Beef Noodle!
Great food which came out in good time. They have a rather large menu which can be a bit intimidating. Would like to see them streamline the menu to something about half the size.
Food was amazing, cooked perfectly. My Ribs were tender, Prawns were delicious and our mains were lovely too. Great service, very polite and attentive.
We are always going there after a good climbing session.
Eating back all those calories we lost . :D
Amazing food, lot selection.
Third time and many more visits to come! Love it there. Not the typical Chinese restaurant menu. So good!
A decent authentic Chinese place. The food was good, the prices were reasonable and the service was good.
The decor is a little scruffy, it isn't as nice as it looks from the outside.
The only real downside is that it is 2 minutes walk from U Canteen which is just better. But is you can't get a seat there and want Chinese it's a decent alternative.
The best authentic Chinese food with the best service we've ever had. We travel 90 minutes regularly just to eat here. Special mention for the salted egg prawns, Gan Bien Dou Jiao and cumin lamb
It was a fantastic dining experience ππ» The food and service were great!
