There’s a reason it’s always busy - such amazing freshly cooked food! There’s such a huge menu and you can really make and make it healthier or more indulgent. The salt & pepper tofu is my absolute favourite, I’ve been back every single week since I first had it!!!! Good vegan menu, don’t feel like you’re missing out at all!

Just as the name suggest! Mainly UNI students come here. Very popular! For obvious reason, very reasonable prices and yummy dishes. Quite authentic Chinese flavours! We had the Salt and Pepper Squid, Chilli Chicken,Signature Fried Noodles, Sliced Fish with Pickled Cabbage. Love the spiciness. Fish is good because no bones in it, even locals would enjoy it! Chilli Chicken is ideal with bowls of rice to eat with! Very friendly couple owners. Highly recommend if you wanna have a Chinese meal. Remember to call and book your table!

I always go there when I feel like having Asian food. So many varieties of dishes and nice teas. I personally like honey lemon tea and Chinese tea. The owner- Lilly is very sweet and friendly. Very tasty and authentic food. Noodles with soup and fried rice won't disappoint you. Salt and pepper chips are to die for! I will always keep coming back to this place.

Always used to walk past this place like "We aren't going there." And had to use it as a last resort and you know what? We don't regret it. Premium fire munch and outside the box Chinese menu if you wanna try something different.

A very good option when it comes to balance of price, quality and quantity and an overall welcoming and good restaurant. The staff was kind enough to help me with information regarding the menu and products I wanted to choose. The interiors are appealing and gives you a good feeling of eating in a good specific environment. My compliments to the chef, staff and management.

I understand that U Canteen has changed hands since Christmas but can confirm that the quality has not diminished from visitors' high expectations. They are participating in the Eat Out to Help Out scheme during August which knock a few pounds off the final price, which I can honestly say wouldn't have made a difference as I'd have happily left having paid full price. They have plenty of outdoor seating for those who aren't entirely happy with eating indoors yet. Went for a variety of different dishes (arguably too many) providing I've been cooped in the house for the last 5 months and had to be content with packet ramen and take-aways to get my East Asian food-fix. Must get recommendations include: Beef Slices in Hot Chilli Oil (Pictured, and essentially tender chunks of steak!), Stir Fried Morning Glory in Garlic and the Hot and Sour Potato Slices (Chinese match-stick fries!). Service was attentive and the new owner clearly cares about her customers after having a chat with her at the end of the meal.

The rice combination set is so cheap (7 GBP) and so delicious! Stirred fried pork belly with Si Chuan sauce and stirred fried lamb with bean curd is also amazing. However, you have to pay 50p per a takeaway box.

Food was really tasty and came out fast . The prices were good as well. The owner/manager is a really nice guy , had a long conversation with him. I tried to tip and he refused to let me tip haha. As it is a smaller Chinese restaurant compared to others in the area you got a nicer more personal experience. Definitely recommend. We got beef ho fun (my favourite), salt and pepper chicken, ribs in sweet n sour sauce and chicken chow mein.

Absolutely delicious and great portion sizes! The best Chinese food I’ve had in Nottingham to date (and I’ve sampled a LOT of places). I’d really recommend trying the Beef Curry+ Singapore vermicelli. The food always come out quick. It’s expensive if you’re just ordering for one because they are sharing portions but the plus side is you’ll have lovely food to heat and eat for the next day. The restaurant itself is definitely more of a canteen vibe (clues in the name) so not really fancy date night worthy but if that’s what you’re looking for you can order to the Jam cafe opposite which is such a great idea! So happy to have found a reliable and authentic place for my go to takeout<3
