So I went here for a meal with my friend on the 29th of June and it was absolutely amazing first time of going neither me or my friend are vegan but live trying out new places so when I found this I throught we must go and check it out. It was very quite on the evening we went as England were playing but the server we had Lauren was amazing very attentive she was working on her own but we didn't feel that we got left. My friend is allergic to orange and was driving this evening so we asked Lauren to make a now alcoholic cocktail. Which she did and it was amazing she even cleaned down the area behind the bar to make sure the mocktail didn't get cross contaminated with orange. We had an amazing meal and would definitely go back again. Highly recommend and will definitely be going back 😀 Thanks Lauren for an amazing evening
Wow. This place was incredible, and totally vegan! We actually struggled to find out about the vegan options here, as we'd been recommended this place by an employee at another restaurant as they didn't have a garden, but until we asked a member of staff here, we really couldn't tell by looking at the menu or website if the food was vegan or not. It is.
The garden is beautiful and well spaced and the food was delicious!
Unfortunately, on the day of my visit, they had ran out of pasta by the time I ordered, which was a shame as the people near me had one of the last portions and it looked delicious!
I ended up having the arancini and risotto, which were both delicious in their own rights, but very, very similar dishes, so I wish I had had something a little different for my main for some variety.
My partner had an aubergine dish and the tofish and chips. It was incredible and the portion was huge!
In hindsight, we should have shared or omitted a starter. We could even have gotten away with sharing a main! (Though then we wouldn't have been able to try as much as we did).
Finally we finished off with both puddings. The espresso panna cotta (sorry if I've got names wrong, it's been a couple of weeks), was nice. But this is coming from a coffee hater. Which means I couldn't really taste the espresso; it wasn't very strong. It was beautifully presented though.
I had the crumble. I loved the topping and the cream.the cream was phenomenal! But the rhubarb was a little sour until everything was mixed together.
Overall, I'd absolutely return and wholeheartedly recommend!
The Gatherers hosted a lunch for us on our wedding day (8 people in total) and it was absolutely perfect! We couldn't have been happier with the care and hard work that went into everything from the table decor to the cake. We had a tapas-style menu paired with wine and every new dish that came out had our guests oohing and aahing. We were originally introduced to The Gatherers by my meat-loving father-in-law because of the quality of food and atmosphere. He's a regular now so that really says it all! Couldn't recommend highly enough if you have a special event and want to impress - or simply want a nice dinner out. The fireplace alone is worth the visit ;)
Lovely veggie restaurant, food tasty and well cooked, good flavours, we all enjoyed our meals and would recommend.
Super yummy roast, and it’s all vegan! Great portion size and so so tasty. Highly recommend
Went here on Saturday night, sat inside. The tapas dishes are amazing, there were a couple sold out though...definitely recommend the kofte...all vegan and yummy 😋 would have had dessert too but they were also sold out...will definitely return!!!
My friend and I went to the Gatherers for lunch. The garden is lovely, inviting and plenty of outdoor space. The lady serving us was lovely and made us feel very welcome. We opted to share two starters and one main course. They were very tasty and beautiful flavours. I just had to have the crumble too and it was great and plenty of it too! I really enjoyed it. We paid and were ready to leave our table when the monsoon rain started! My friend had to leave but the staff insisted that I come and wait inside until it eased off. One of them even offered to go and get my bike for me (which was locked a few streets away) and bring it to the pub so that it didn't get soaked! Unfortunately as the pub is such an old building, leaks sprang from various parts of the ceiling and the electrics had to be turned off. The staff were calm and got straight to work with the buckets and mops. They were so friendly and I enjoyed talking to them (I wad the only customer in there at this point). Eventually the rain eased and off I went but with a lovely feeling of warmth and gratitude that they had taken me in to shelter and been so lovely and kind. And not forgetting the wonderful food. Thank you for an unforgettable afternoon!
Very welcoming place. Large outdoor area, worried it was right next to a road but there was no traffic there for the whole time we were sitting. Lovely barman who was happy to help and answer questions. Food was ALL excellent, the Mapo Tofu and the Gudeg the standout dishes.will be back again to try the cocktails and the other half of the menu!

Great time at The Gatherers last week, went for a meal and loved all the food, and the cocktails were really great too. You really don't have to be veggie or vegan to eat here, although it's a plant based restaurant you don't miss meat at all its just all delicious food! The staff were really friendly and the atmosphere was perfect for an evening meal with great music choices and the decor really shows off the beautiful old building. We had drinks outside and it was just an all round great experience! Will definitely be returning.
My partner and I had a really lovely meal. Cocktails are really delicious and the menu was smallish but well executed. We are not vegetarian but fancied something different. We didn't miss meat as everything so well done. Would recommend and it was lovely to see them so busy on a Tuesday night

We love the Gatherers! The food we ordered was excellent. Rich in flavour and super tasty. Eloise our waitress was super attentive, friendly and made an awesome espresso martini :-) The atmosphere was great too - what a great location and beautiful historic building! We'll be back for sure. Keep up the great work guys!
Stopped by for lunch and a pint at the weekend. The food was delicious and the staff lovely, however I feel they didn't have enough staff to deal with the amount of people. The wait time to receive drinks was just a bit too long to warrant staying for longer.
I've heard it's normally better, but this is just going off the experience I had. Would go back as, like I say, the food was delicious, but I would avoid it if I saw it was busy.
Me and my fella, Tom, visited for early dinner on a very sunny day. There was a very clear welcoming atmosphere as soon as we arrived. The food was amazing, we ordered the burger with thrice cooked chips and chargrilled aubergine side. Very well balanced flavours but also hearty and wholesome. No room after that for pudding! All the staff were really pleasant, including the owner, who made the effort to really make us feels special. We will be back!
DELICIOUS food, lovely and attentive staff, and a beautiful setting. I can't fault the meal I had here!
I have visited The Gatherers twice already in the last week, once just for drinks and then returned a second time a couple of days later for a meal. We were lucky to have great weather when we visited for drinks and were able to sit in the large outside seating area, which is so beautiful and makes you feel like you're drinking cocktails on holiday! Fairy lights, flowers, herbs and also a fountain, we spent all evening trying all of the different cocktails as there's so many to choose from! We also ordered a bottle of wine and the owner gave us an explanation of where it was from and what we should be tasting, and clearly knew his stuff, so that was a lovely experience, as someone clueless about wine it was nice to feel I understood what I was drinking and the different tastes!
When I visited later that week for dinner the staff again were great and showed us to a gorgeous table with cushions and candles in the corner, it was very cosy and made even better by the fire warming up the restaurant. We ordered different starters and mains to share as the menu offers so many different options and we wanted to try them all, and we weren't dissapointed! Generous portions and amazing combinations of flavours, the menu had something for every member of the group. We weren't rushed at all and enjoyed our time drinking and eating, then stayed later for more drinks as it was such a lovely place to be with a great atmosphere!
Will be returning ASAP! I don't think I'll be going anywhere else for drinks or meals round Norwich anymore, it ticked every box for me and my group both times!
Went for a meal for my birthday on a Sunday lunchtime. The meal was delicious, even my meat eating mom was impressed, and my 18 month old absolutely devoured her Bolognese. Lovely service, we had a wonderful time. I can't wait to return.
