I popped in just for a café au lait and a slice of red velvet cake (what I had two years ago) but it appeared they didn't have any of these things. In the end I settled for a latte and a slice of tarte au citron, which were both really nice. My only complaint is that the price is a bit steep for what they are. The waitress was really nice in helping me choose and the atmosphere was equally great, with smooth songs gracing our ears.
As always, very nice food, excellent service and wasn't rushed.
Went in for lunch using voucher. Staff polite food was very nice. Wasn't made to feel rushed to leave.
Really great food but small portions and despite the restaurant being almost empty, food took forever, didn't come all at once and no one thought to ask how it was at any point. Staff were polite but inattentive and uninterested
Went for a meal today that was a Christmas treat all pretty good. Told as we arrived some dishes not available but still a good selection. Lady my party in wheelchair had plenty of room. All very well presented& plenty of time allowed which was great to have time to chat. Also had a money off voucher which was great we will return. Thanks to all friendly& helpful staff

Quick breakfast stop for an excellent strong coffee and a very good pain au Chocolat. A great start to a shopping day in the city
Great tasting beef bourguignon done the traditional French way, very rich and divine although my Mum thought it was very fatty, I LOVED it!! It was definitely a last meal list contender!! I have this meal every time I visit without fail. My only slight thing I would like to see improved at this place is the speed of service as I did wait longer for service than at other places I have been to. Although saying that the taste of the beef Bourguignon makes it worth it!
We were visiting this Cafe Rouge as we wanted a nice evening out and to experience a bit of Norwich. In summary we were rather impressed by what we saw and had.
When we arrived, we were told that we were welcome to have a table but the waiter (Dan) let us know that they were having a private function that evening therefore it was possible that the speed of service may be slower. We were seated just next to the entrance which allowed us a full view of the restaurant and the restaurant square there. Our waiter was professional and swift and we soon had our meals chosen and relayed. They use tablets at this restaurant, resulting in your order immediately pinging to the chefs so that they know what food is needed next. We were offered the summer menu as well but did not fancy any of it on this occasion. Finally, our server was knowledgeable with the menu and was able to answer all the questions we had including whether the mousse had uncooked egg or not.
Food and drink:
The starters were delivered very quickly, sub 10-15 minutes from point of ordering which surprised us and were delicious. The Main course was delivered approx 20-25mins from the point we had our starter plates taken away. Our waiter Dan was attentive and professional throughout. I had a rib-eye steak and my wife had a chicken salad. My wife reported that the chicken was cooked really rather well. My steak was cooked to medium rare and it is one of the very very few times that I have had my steak cooked to the degree I wanted it to be. Additionally, it was more tender than expected. For pudding, we had a fondant with chocolate and raspberry ice cream with frozen raspberries on top. Delicious, and shared between us. I had a coke and my wife had a mocktail, which was really rather tasty. They had a decent menu for drinks.
Service speed (Generally):
Generally the service could not have been faster. The restaurant seemed about 60-75% full for most of the evening therefore the fact we were served as quickly as we were was impressive not counting the fact we did not order the summer menu which the private function was for. We gave a much larger tip than we usually give in restaurants as we felt relaxed and full and did not feel that we were being pushed out.
General thoughts:
One of the first things we noticed was that after 7:30pm the menu stated that the table was ours for the rest of the evening. We did not feel rushed at all which made for a lovely experience. Additionally, we noted that you can get 20% off if you have a theatre or cinema ticket for that evening. Finally we noted that it had an award for disabled access, so if you are reading this, you may find that helpful.
Summary / TL:DR:
If you want some good food with a great atmosphere, go here. There is no guarantee that you will have the same experience we had and it is worth noting that we went on a weekday. However, we had a good time and I imagine that others would too. The only downside was that our server said he was being transferred and we did not think to ask where. A shame really as it was him and the food that made our night.
Juicy not over cooked stakes, nice service.
We have been here 4 times in the past 3 weeks and we will definitely come back! Of course by now it's one of our favourite places!
Four of us visited Cafe Rouge yesterday having previously booked a table we were told on arrival the wait for food would be 40 mins. We decided to cope with this only to be told by the waitress that at least 10 items from the menu were unavailable! We obviously decided to leave. I am a frequent diner at CR but no longer. Management must have realised it was half term. Pity the poor serving staff.
