Went to the Racecourse last night, me and my friend had a carvery and the food was really nice - lots to choose from and everything was fresh and hot on the counter. The guy on the carvery was really polite and friendly.
Only thing I would say is there was only one girl on the bar and there was quite a queue (10-12 people) so it took about 15/20 minutes of standing near the bar to be served a drink, no one else came to help her even though there was other staff about. Other than that we had a lovely evening :)
Visited here because we were craving a carvery on a Thursday night after a busy day!
Pulled into the car park and boy was it a bump ride. Lots of pot holes so be aware.
The restaurant is HUGE!! So many tables! We ordered drinks and paid for the food at the bar and found a table to sit at. It was pretty quiet, maybe 4 tables when we sat down were full. The carvery selection was amazing. Lots of different choices and a good meat selection also considering how quiet it was. Was way too full when we walked out but enjoyed every bite.
Great place with a Carvery everyday. We went late in the evening on a Monday and the food was fresh and warm. Lots of parking available and loads of seating options. The pub was quiet but had a great selection of lagers and beer.
Carvery was tasty with about 10 sides available (mash, roasties, brocolli, cheesy cauliflower, spouts, carrots, suede, parsnips, yorkies, stuffing and peas) and 5 selections of meat (turkey, lamb, gammon, beef and sausages). Also a variety of sauces and gravy.
Would defenitly recommend for small or large groups.

Will be going back, food was lovely and lots of dessert, most place I been too don't do much with choose of dessert, but this place have lots, staff was very nice to can't wait to go back

Had a lunchtime meeting with 3 friends, arriving at 12. On entry bar staff acknowledged me and took me through to the table they were seated at. Very friendly and helpful lady.
We sat chatting for a while. Table we chose was perfect for space around us (wheelchair) and easy to get around.
Menus provided which offer enormous amount of choices. Light bites. Full main menu and sharing platters. Given plenty of time to choose as order and payment taken at the bar.
Food arrived in good time as restaurant was not busy. Piping hot and all of us had a delicious meal. Prices are very reasonable and portions were a good size.
This restaurant is always busy and has not been redecorated in years. A lick of paint and new carpet would lift the decor 100%.
Good value food and selection on carvery, can be a small wait on Sundays, play area for children
The Race Course is well known around Norwich and extremely popular for carvery. It boasts a large dining area with spacious walkways for wheelchairs, scooters and pushchairs. Lots of variety of drinks and even with a carvery you still have lots of choice for cooked food. The pub is managed nicely by staff and well looked after. The place is clean and hygienic.
The only reason for loosing a star Is for the play area. I have never seen a play area in a restaurant that requires money. Although it might not be very expensive. That is not the point. What are the adults paying for? For children to go through and play in an area. If it was a high end place or perhaps you weren't paying for meals or drinks then yes charging seems appropriate. But it just doesnt make sense to me.
Other than that, I will dine here again as it is a enjoyable atmosphere and great food.
