I have visited here before for Afternoon Tea which was perfect. This time our visit was for breakfast and it was wonderful.
Whilst Norwich does have an abundance of breakfast eateries they are often too busy, too small and often have no tables. It’s too hectic for a breakfast environment.
The Assembly house is grand and elegant and each of the rooms have their own identity. We sat down for breakfast, it was quiet, peaceful and relaxing. We sat at a large table by the window and took in the ambience whilst sipping delicious full bodied cappuccino’s.
There’s a wide selection on offer for breakfast and we both chose to have the Full English Breakfast. The added bonus I was able to substitute the black pudding for a sausage! Bonus! The food was beautiful, high quality ingredients and fresh produce. Perfect bacon, thin, full of flavour and not too salty. The breakfast wasn’t greasy and I didn’t suffer with indigestion for the rest of the day. It was perfect.
I think this may now be my go to place for breakfast. A perfect setting in a lovely environment away from the hustle and bustle of Norwich.
Absolutely the next place for afternoon tea, actually now enroute to try the Sunday Lunch. I always recommend The Assembly House due to the food being exceptional and the staff being friendly too. Love this place
Came for afternoon tea yesterday, we were in the Hobart room from 3pm for my Mum’s birthday. Very enjoyable afternoon, the food was delicious!! The guy who served us was really attentive, polite and made sure our tea pots were topped up and bought out more sandwiches and scones � highly recommend.
Both the food and staff were amazing !!! Would highly recommend going to eat here also the building is beautiful .
Lovely food, very attentive staff, took Mum for mothers day treat and she felt very spoilt, would certainly recommend
Celebrated our wedding anniversary yesterday with afternoon tea . I am breastfeeding my three month old daughter and she has cows milk protein allergy . Was so
pleased when I found out you can offer a diary free afternoon tea. It lived up to my expectations and was delicious thank you . A real treat and lovely to know I can come and enjoy afternoon tea every once in a while � . The staff were fantastic and each time they brought something for me they said what it was and highlighted that it was dairy free so I didn’t have the usual obsessive worry of having to question things when they arrived on the table . Not many places do this and it made the experience so much more relaxing for me . Also happy to see you offer a vegan afternoon tea as our son is dairy and egg free .

Me and my sister surprised our mum with the Halloween afternoon tea. Would absolutely recommend, the food was delicious and the service was great.
Went for the first time today for my mum's 70th birthday as wanted to do something different, had afternoon tea, was great, the setting was splendid, the food and drink was excellent!! and the service was great!! Cannot wait to go again.
My daughter took myself and her daughter for The Halloween Afternoon Tea tor our Birthdays. Food and Service Excellent, worth every penny. Highly recommend it. Can't wait to go again

My family and I came for the eggstra-ordinary Easter afternoon tea yesterday. Just wanted to let you know what a lovely time we had. The Easter theme was fab and the attention to detail in your cakes is amazing! I also wanted to say thank you to our lovely waiter. Nothing was too much trouble and he was great with my daughter who is an extremely fussy eater. We do hope you will do another themed afternoon tea soon!

We have now been back twice for 'Afternoon Tea' for special occasions.
The food and tea menu are always fantastic, with friendly helpful staff and a great setting, in beautiful surroundings.
Have also attended functions here, all of which were of a very high standard.
The team really know how to put on an event....
Lovely hotel. Beautifully decor ( we were in room 5) exceptionally comfy bed. First class breakfast with local produce. All the staff we met were delightful and extremely helpful. You access the rooms externally . There is some parking available for hotel guests but it’s a pay and display and you need to obtain a pass from reception and only available between 3pm-11.30 am. The hotel is very popular for afternoon tea and was busy when we arrived (it looked amazing!). It would be great if the hotel had a restaurant for evening meals as I’m sure the food would be delicious.

Visited on Saturday. Sat in their “grand hall” for tea and scones. All staff were helpful and attentive especially Emily who looked after me. Nothing was too much! She also provided me information on booking a bedroom for my 40th Wedding anniversary as I was unsure which room would best suit me and my husband.Will definitely return and bring the grandchildren for afternoon tea!
An absolute delight! Here for the Nutcracker Christmas Afternoon Tea. So pretty and delicious, with a brilliant selection of beautiful teas. Enough for everyone to be sufficiently full with extra sandwiches if requested. Warm scones, tasty ham, perfect gingerbread. Good value. The clotted cream was the best bit. Only criticisms are that there could have been some tasteful quiet Christmas music, the teapots were quite dirty, and the butter was solid.
The afternoon tea we had was excellent. All the ingredients essential to a good afternoon tea- sandwiches, cakes, pastries, scones. All of these were very good. Great service, lovely environment. Good value.
Last minute decision to eat out. Fancied something a bit off the norm so went for the Assembly House. Tasty show stopper sausage roll and skin on fries. The sausage roll was packed with tasty pork with onion marmalade. Fries we nice and crispy. The branded paper everything was served on was a nice touch.
We had a lovely stay at the Assembly rooms. The room had excellent amenities, a very comfortable bed and the breakfast was delicious. We’d definitely recommend booking to anyone staying in Norwich.
Afternoon tea is superb! The best place to go for afternoon tea, a truly special setting and enhanced by the amazing themed food. The attention to detail on the themed teas is brilliant and always look forward to the next one!

Absolutely INSANELY good gluten free afternoon tea. Everything is replaced with a gf option, rather than removals and poor tasting replacements. I always have to check it is gluten free because you wouldn’t believe it! Sandwich top ups also available on asking, not that I ever need to because I always fail to finish everything and end up taking home the treats in a box. Fantastic service, gorgeous location, always an absolute pleasure to dine here.
They also do the BEST peach iced tea I have EVER had.
What an incredible night. The service was great. The music was heavenly. The only thing was the room set up sometimes did not allow much movement but that was very minor. Thank you for a lovely night
We attended their Nutcracker themes afternoon tea for Holiday 2023 . I was the perfect way to have a special girls day out!
The Tea itself had an offering of varietals . Each compoent of the tea was handcrafted with lots of attention to detail. The service was friendly and attentive. The surroundings are simply stunning, expecially when decorated for special holidays.
Tip: parking can be difficult to guarantee so be sure to give yourself an extra 15 mins or so. Also prebooking is a MUST, expecially if you have a large party or want to book tea or during holiday menus. Also splurge for the outdoor domes if you can.

Had a great Peter Pan themed afternoon tea to celebrate my partners birthday. They even brought him a little birthday card, and birthday brownie which was a really nice gesture!
I had a vegan afternoon tea and was pleasantly surprised that this was no trouble for them, I could have the exact same as the normal afternoon tea (just with different ingredients of course). Excellent service, staff were very friendly and the food was delicious! I would highly recommend.
(We also had the peach ice tea 🍑 which was delicious).
The Assembly house organised a wonderful afternoon tea (halloween special) to celebrate our wedding with close family. A special shout out to Katie who was my main contact with the assembly house. She was welcoming, friendly and always quick at responding to my emails. The staff were exceptional nothing was too such trouble.
Went for light meal. Good value, great service, lovely venue. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit.
Absolutely brilliant hotel, everything was superb. We stayed in a chalet style room which was so big & lovely. Even had its own private courtyard. Shame it was winter.The bed was super huge & best bed ever. Room 4
Breakfast was so good & the service was excellent.
Will definitely stay again.
