Lovely setting and decor, if a bit dark, and terrific food - the Dhal Puri starter and chicken Naga in particular were top drawer. Given the quality of the place, it wasn’t overpriced. Really enjoyed our visit.
There was 6 in our party and there was no waiting, we were waited on straight away. The place looks lovely. The waiters were polite and helpful. The food was really tasty and the portions I thought were quite generous. We were there for about 2.5hrs and we never thought we were being rushed. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would definitely go again.
Well what can i say ..... I will go as far by saying one of the best Curry house in Norwich City ..If you want a lovely night out this is the place to go ..lovely feel and atmosphere to the place too.. staff are all so polite and friendly and so efficient ....
The food is excellent, the best Prawn Puri ever! The staff are lovely, attentive without being overbearing. The atmosphere is great too, a lovely building in historic Colegate.

Very good service from the staff! The restaurant also has a nice ambiance too with the lighting and music.
The Staff look after you well,the service was prompt as in no waiting for ages between courses,very helpful on choice of dish to suit the novice dinner as in not eaten a lot of Indian food.
Full credit to the chefs who make it all run like clockwork.
My only gripe that let the experience down was cobra larger £4.50 a pint!! at £3.50 a pint a fair price I would have drank more.

The staff here are awesome. My wife and I went there last night for our 5th wedding anniversary, and they put up balloons for us, free of charge! I didn't even ask them too; that really is sensational service. Everyone wished us happy anniversary, and we're very kind.

Amazing Chicken tikka, pilau rice was also fantastic. Service was perfect not to pushy but very attentive and made to feel welcome. I would recommend booking or calling before hand because we eat on a Monday night, it was busy.

Staff were great
You know when a place is good if you have to book well in advance to get a table! This is 1st class Indian cuisine. The menu may not be extensive, but this is reflected in the quality of the dishes they offer. The lamb dishes are succulent and so tender, chicken dishes flavoursome and prawn dansak is divine. Service is excellent and left feeling comfortably full and happy. Would thoroughly recommend. Book early to avoid disappointment.

Arranged for a group of work colleagues to meet here for an after work social.
Booked the table for 6pm but arrived just before 5:30 for pre meal drinks… no such luck the door was locked so we went around the corner to another place that was prepared for service.
Once we we’re in the atmosphere was nice, warm and cosy. We we’re sat on the table furthest from the door. Food was enjoyed by all, arrived hot and was delicious although the portions are a bit on the small side.
I agree with some of the comments regarding service, it needs slight improvement in order to make the flow of the evening go more smoothly. One of our table ordered double gin a tonic and it was served in a whiskey tumbler when a highball glass would have been much more suitable. Another person from our party ordered a vodka and lemonade and was given vodka and tonic… it was replaced.
In all I will be returning and recommend you give it a try, but be forgiving of the service staff if they make a small mistake… they’re only human.

Finally made it to the Merchants of Spice after many recommendations from friends. Booking ahead is essential, particularly if you are a slightly bigger group.
It was busy for a Tuesday evening, and despite booking weeks ahead, as a table of two we were unfortunately on a table in a bit of a walkway. This actually turned out to be a bit quieter than the location of the other small tables though as there were some bigger groups in and it was quite noisy.
The food was excellent, as was the service. Highly recommend the Railway Lamb dish! We also enjoyed having a different Indian beer on tap available.
I will be back...when diaries allow!

Visited here several times, today was for my 60th birthday, service was outstanding and the quality of the food was superb! This Indian restaurant is top class and amazing.
One of the best chicken shashlik we've had in a long time. Really tasty rabbit bhuna and chicken madras nice and spicy. Friendly, welcoming service and nice environment. We would definitely return. See pics!

The food here is actually very good in both quality and portion sizes, it's also reasonably priced for a restaurant that has such a good reputation. But the atmosphere is one of chaos, as the seating is very close together and the restaurant is quite small. I could barely hold a conversation with my partner over the noise. I also found the staff were friendly and attentive but they all congregate around the bar which is unavoidable I guess, but it makes everything appear cramped. I loved the food but would avoid it during busy evenings.

Immaculate service, with little waiting time. Delicious food with good portion sizes. Really nice atmosphere, the staff were friendly and accommodating especially as we called minutes before to check if there was space for a booking. Would 100% recommend for anyone looking for a romantic date night meal or if you’re craving a good Indian with tasty classics.
Lovely Indian restaurant. Great service. Very fast. Very attentive. Food was really good. Good seized portions. Very affordable lots of choices on the menu. Hand wipe were very useful. Punky the toy was full of ice cream.
