We had an amazing Sunday lunch here! We had been recommended this pub as being dog friendly, which it certainly is. Luckily we booked in advance and despite being totally full they managed to hold our table when I rang to say we were running 1/2 hour late.
All the staff were fantastic, so friendly, knowledgable and polite. They supplied our dog with water and treats and even gave us some offcuts to take home for her. Our meals were excellent - really good portions of beautifully cooked meat and veg done to perfection. Seriously one of the best pub roasts I've had in a long long time!! Thank you to all the staff working so hard to give us such a good meal with such a great atmosphere. We will be back (just wished we lived nearer Norwich!)
We visited on a Saturday night. It was buzzing. Every table was in use and we were four deep at the bar... Yet the staff were warm and welcoming, and the food (once we got a table) was beautifully presented and delicious. Would definitely recommend.
Our new go to place for food and drink in the GT. Delicious, high quality and good value menu in great surroundings. Catered for a large party celebration meal with dietary requirements to a very high standard - all 12 left very impressed and will return. Get some Aperol behind the bar and it will be perfect
This was my Second visit to the black horse, & had the cheese & bacon burger & it was Scrumptious!
Friendly attentive staff I would highly recommend if you fancy a spot of lunch, Thankyou to Amy & I think kate? For their Amazing Service!
Our top scoring brunch in 3 years of brunch club 4.9 out of 5! Perfectly poached eggs! Well done to The Black Horse on Earlham Rd 🍽 Parking great, interior great, menu great, playlist great, service great, food great!
A group of 6 of us wanted to catch up over brunch following exercise on Saturday morning. I can't recommend The Black Horse enough. The menu choice is excellent (I need to go back to try the Mexican Breakfast,my husband said it was great) I had the veggie breakfast which was deliciously fresh and tasty. The food quality is excellent as was the service, nothing was a problem. All for a really good price. Glad it's so close to home - this could be a regular post training brekkie stop! Thanks guys we all loved it
We had a lovely meal in here on Monday evening! Every course was superb and the waitress was lovely! I’d definitely recommend. Thank you
We've recently held my Mothers Wake here & couldn't fault the staff & service they provided for us. The food was delicious & just how mum would've liked it. The room is beautiful & made extra special with the added touch of burning candles that were placed around. Would like to say a special Thank you to Rosie for her kindness at this difficult time xx
Fabulous ! Delicious locally sourced food and drinks including options for Gluten free, vegetarian and vegan requirements, attentive staff, great garden with comfortable seating - menu reflects a love of flavoursome dishes. All in all we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening in this lovingly refurbished pub.
We had a lovely Mother's Day meal at the Black horse today, we couldn't fault anything, the service was great, lovely friendly waiters and waitresses, the food was fantastic and the over all feel of the place was so relaxed and welcoming; we will definitely be coming back and will recommend! Thank you!!!
Had another fantastic brunch here sat in the garden. Lovely surroundings. Wonderful staff (thank you Richard for your attentive service) food was beyond lush. And perfectly cooked poached eggs!! (Youd be surprised how many places get this wrong ) excellent overall experience x
Their Sunday roasts are always superb. We go back on a regular basis. Highly recommend.
My search for the best place in Norwich for a Sunday Roast took me to the Black Horse on Earlham Road.
Booking is essential as it was very busy.
There are multi levels and some of the tables are high with high chairs (was forewarned of this on booking) but the chairs were comfy.
Service was very good, quick bringing our drinks and we didn't have a long wait for food. We were asked if there were any allergies when taking our order.
We had the All Meats Roast. Children's size was also available and even one for your dog too. Dogs were very welcome.
The food was hot, Yorkshire pud was massive. The beef was lovely, chicken nice, pork just melted. What I really liked is that the roast potatoes and veg didn't taste like they'd been sat under a heat lamp for hours.
I asked for extra gravy and it was promptly brought to the table.
My only negative was the big dollop of Horseradish on the side of the plate. I'm not a fan and unfortunately I couldn't eat the things it was put on top of, so having it in a dish on the table would have been preferable. Aside from that we all thoroughly enjoyed our Roast and would return.
Lovely atmosphere. Extremely busy but we'll organised. Dog friendly. Excellent roast. I enjoyed the small pumpkin roast. They even do dog roasts so they don't miss out. Staff very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend the place. Also their gold card is a good deal. We got one and it can be quite a saving on your bill plus other good deals. You need to book to be sure you can be assured of a table due to the fact of how busy the place is.
Arrived at about 2:30pm for a Sunday Roast, originally booked a table over the phone to sit in the bar however was given the option to sit outside if we wanted as it was a nice day, could take any table and there is a secondary station outside where a member of staff takes orders. Really friendly and informative staff alongside an amazing roast dinner. Couldn't fault it in any way, the portions were massive! The stuffing was particularly good, one of my favourites which you don't always see on a roast so that was a bonus! Will be back again..
Had a lovely time here! Tried a prawn starter which was delicious. I had a mushroom burger which was great too. Good parking onsite 😋Service and all staff were kind and food came in good time. Photos I took aren't the best quality.
Super busy when we visited on a Thursday night but luckily got the last free table - definitely a good idea to book in advance. The pub is super cosy with a really relaxed vibe. We both had burgers and loaded fries - delicious! Service was friendly and our little dog was made to feel very welcome, he even got his own plate of treats!
Such a lovely meal here last night. The staff are so friendly, great atmosphere & efficient service. The food was delicious & dog friendly too!
We had a lovely meal here on a Wednesday evening. The outdoor area is nice and big, set back from the road and there is good tree coverage to stop you getting sunburnt in the summer. There is a big dedicated car park with a bike rack which is also very convenient. Food was good, service was excellent and the atmosphere was very relaxed. The barman recommended the starters and we would definitely agree they were pretty good, especially the courgette
A lovely pub with a good atmosphere and friendly staff. We had the pulled pork burger for our mains it was absolutely delicious! I would recommend it to anyone 😋 👌 a nicely decorated pub with a lovely beer garden ready for warmer weather gatherings we will definitely be back for other meals or drinks.
I recently had an enjoyable indoor group dinner in the evening. The ambiance was made even better as we were seated near a cozy fireplace. For my meal, I ordered the catch of the day which was stone bass served with tomato sauce and roasted potatoes. The fish was cooked to perfection - moist and tender with a delightfully crispy skin. Wish to have a bit more greens to balance the dish.
Arrived on a rainy day on the way to Great Yarmouth. Staff are friendly and food quality is spot on! Kids menu selection is excellent and with good portion. Really enjoyed our meal and will definitely come back again (with reservation 🙂)
Great pub, our vegetarian friends impressed too, strangely, they had vegetarian options at the start of the mains, followed by meat and fish options. Small menu, but straters are like small meals, so had 2 of them, which made good size meal and same price as a main. We all enjoyed the food. Prices are very decent, cosy atmosphere.
Glad they welcome dogs too. Loads of covered and heated seating outside too
Really cosy, clean local pub, perfect place to spend a Sunday afternoon reading the paper or playing board games with friends and family.
Great atmosphere sitting outside.
Consistently good food with a very good wine list.
Lots of options for veggies and vegans.
Staff were attentive and friendly.
Very good Sunday lunch.
Great place, really busy so you know it’s good. I would have preferred my food a bit warmer but this didn’t really detract from my overall experience. Great staff too btw
Excellent customer service and delicious food. We found The Black Horse by chance and were so pleased we had as from start to finish it was a delightful experience. Ali could not have been more understanding and accommodating of my dietary requirements, our food was sensational and the friendly atmosphere is so relaxing. We were so impressed we visited twice in a week and will certainly be back despite living 40 miles away.
What a wonderful place
Great food and hospitality
Highly recommended
Fi specially was a wonderful host
Will definitely go back
Recommend! Cosy, dog friendly, has a garden. The food is fresh tasty, and tastefully decorated and served. Wine is great as well. Vegan food is also available. The staff are very friendly. Bottom line: I'll come back!
1st visit, went late afternoon with son and girlfriend, sat outside. Very impressed, so friendly and inviting, great atmosphere great food and overpriced
Will definitely return.
The staff were lovely and were genuinely attentive without being over bearing. The beers were well kept as well.
On the day of our visit it was reasonably busy as well with a very good atmosphere. As we felt hungry we decided to order food.
Looked at the menu it looked.good if a tad expensive. £7.50 for fries with bacon, mozzarella and cheddar cheese. £5 for fries and mozzarella cheese. Which we decided to go for as we only wanted a light bite.
I have to say the fries were very nice and well cooked. It would have been nice to have had a few more for the price.
However, given the current financial crisis all pubs etc are facing I can understand why.
Would visit again as it was the staff who made the experience a good one and are a credit to The Black Horse pub.
Fantastic pub - friendly atmosphere, loads of well behaved dogs, and delicious food. A fair few vegan options too which is really important for me. Took my grandpa there for a meal out and he gave it a 9.75/10 as compared to his local which got a perfect 10, so you can take that as a great recommendation. Fi, our server, was a delight, and I hope we get her next time we come in!
