Delightful pub on the banks with glorious views of the River Severn with plenty of outdoor space to accommodate many people on sunny days. Being at the end of the Wainlode flood plain, the Red Lion has a long history of being flooded or close to. Excellent friendly service with well kept ales and lovely home cooked food from local produce.
Amazing place by the river. The food (Sunday menu) ....i could say is one of the best. The lamb, is an A+, the chicken also very good. Only 3 deserts, but all of them excelent.
The service an A+ as well. To order and collect the food, very well orginized and fast.

My wife and I decided to treat ourselves and go out for Sunday Lunch, so on the recommendation of friends chose the Red Lion. The first thing I noticed was that there is plenty of off road parking, a real plus! We had booked an inside table but were informed by a very friendly staff member that we could also eat on the riverbank, and since it was a lovely sunny afternoon we decided to trade the charm of the restaurant for the view of the tranquil river Severn.
The staff were working very hard with their never ending trips across the road to the riverbank serving food and clearing tables. Our drinks were served promptly by the manager (I had a great craft ale), a lovely young man who talked me into having the lamb (a little more expensive but well worth it!), and took the time to chat with us for a few minutes, really appreciated.
The food, although on the expensive side was all very good and served as a generous portion, so definitely worth it.
All in all, a really lovely afternoon.

Was a lovely place nice area & food was very quick to get to table & food was excellent, the only thing I would say is that there could be a little more for the money food wise, but excellent otherwise
This is a great pub in the country side with a wonderful atmosphere. I have had a Sunday roast here in the past and it was among one of the best I’ve ever had. The setting is great as it is right on a river with plenty of outdoor tables to enjoy a drink in the sun.

Great pub by the river, ideal for a summer's day. The food was very good and had a nice selection of beers.
Early evening social visit with four friends, of which two had visited previous. Staff were friendly, service to the outside tables was efficient, it was the food that let the experience down.
I had selected the vegetarian curry, with a side of chips. The curry was nice, but not at all generous for the price. The chunky chips side came as a generous portion, but were overcooked, and had been over salted before they left the kitchen. Luckily one of our party liked his chips like that so they didn't go to waste. The burger meal recipient said he wouldn't order it again, as he said his fries weren't as nice as the chunky chips !

Who doesn't love a pub by a river?!?! Loads of outdoor seating by a very quiet road. The table service is very good. Beautiful position at a lazy bend on the Severn. Wonderful atmosphere on a summer afternoon.
Great food, quick and friendly service. Quiet for a lunchtime but well worth the visit whether inside or out (weather decides). You won’t regret it.
