Cosy fires, great staff, the oldest pub in Northwich, quality drinks, great atmosphere, what more could you want, well done in such a short space of time

This is a true hidden gem in the heart of Northwich close to the river.

They managed to accommodate a table of 15. The food was really good and served well. 2 minor downs with the service. Firstly, they didn't come to the table to take drinks orders. You had to either try and attract someone's attention or go to the bar during the meal, which isn't ideal. Secondly, we split the bill. Ours was correct, but the other was overcharged by one meal, and when they tried to rectify this, they were told to come back another time to sort it, again not great. Overall, it was a good experience and food, and we will probably visit again.

We were passing by and stopped for a dinner. Pleasantly surprised how meals were presented and tasty too. Pub is nice too with real fires.

Stopped by a few times now - well worth a visit for refreshments if walking along the river. Large beer garden with plenty of tables, with a gate so little ones or dogs are relatively safe. Super dog friendly, treats at the bar and a proper warm welcome from staff and punters for my pups first trip to the boozer. Really great little dog pub, if that's your thing. Food is decent quality albeit on the expensive side, but frankly happy to pay slightly extra as it seems quality. Drink choice is alright too, with a few big brand pales/ipas on tap which is always welcome. Drink prices are spot on. Staff seem a decent bunch too, always had a warm welcome. Definitely worth a pint

What a fantastic surprise. Went for a walk along the canal and room a chance stop at the Bowling Green. Sunday meal 3 courses for £16.00 with best beer I have drunk for a while..I only took picture of the starters and deserts...as it was too good...
