**dog friendly**
Called in on my way to my next appointment as I had time to stop for some lunch.
I've had coffee here before and remember there being a lot more "comfy" chairs but there seems to have been a bit of rearranging since my last visit. The seating has all but been changed to hard wooden seats. Possibly due to covid and this is easier to keep clean but either way, it doesn't detract from the cafes appeal or standards of food and drink.
There is lots of parking and is easy to get to from either side of the busy road outside.
Definitely worth a visit if you're ever passing and think "I must go in there" ... please do!
Lots of seats both inside and out. Brilliant on a sunny day.
Fairly large menu, good for a small lunch or even a breakfast.
I especially like the fact that it holds so much history and intrigue. Lots of things to read and things to look at inside!
Coffee and court rooms! What else could you wish for!
Lovely stop off for food.
Visited on my drive down to Wales, and it was a great stop.
Dog friendly cafe, but there is an outdoor seated section also.
Efficient chef and staff behind the tills.
Not a waiter service, but they do give you a little buzzer that will buzz when food and beverages are ready.
Food full of flavour and great presentation!!
Not to forget, you can take a walk around the old prison and participate in an activity.
Highly recommend!!
Dropped in for a light lunch. The food was good, not cheap but it's not too expensive. Service is pretty quick & it was nice to sit out in the sunshine while we ate.
Full English breakfast was nice. Plenty choice of cakes (including gluten free). Farm live exhibition is a bit dated... Court house and cell blocks are interesting to visited.
Not a lot to see but interesting. Worth popping in for the café. Very good selection of cake and a decent cooked breakfast.
It's a wonderful cafe with a tiny museum. I believe it is funded by the local community. The staff are awesome and also showed us around the place, guiding us through the 'Prison'! Food is served which was delicious. Ordered a Pizza and it was absolutely banging. Loved it. Beer also served ( even one on tap!) Definitely worth visiting.
Possibly the best full English I've had in my life, and really interesting building where you can have a tour of the cells and courtroom, fabulous
What a gem, interesting little prison with great food. Very friendly staff. Will definitely return.
Popped in on a bike tour for a quick coffee. Nice little museum, comfortable seating and small grass area for children to run and play in
Worth a visit if you've got time to learn some historical events about this prison. Nice cafe and exhibits. Entrance is free but contributions are welcomed as it is maintained by a group of volunteers who are dedicated to create awareness of the historical past of the old prison.
Lovely coffee and very nice food, little walk around the prison but a really unique place, thanks guys :-)
A busy bank Holiday visit but nice cakes and good coffee, plenty of parking and seating. We will be back for Breakfast next time.
Lovely, unique cafe/museum. Excellent food quality, and lovely friendly staff. Well worth a visit, and seemed to be a favourite with locals as well as travellers
It was really interesting to witness this part of human civilisation and how they have managed to maintain its charm. An old prison converted to a café, serving delicious lunch and tasty cakes, is worth the visit. It is possible to visit the original prison cells at the backyard. And do visit the town center, walk around the beautiful streets and so on depending upon how much time you have. I recommend a visit to this beautiful AONB.
Light, bright glass atrium overlooking cart shed housing intriguing collection of antique farm implements. Great armosphere & good food: delicious sweet potato soup. My mother said her beef Cotswold pasty was the best ever!
Lovely place to have a nice coffee. Also had a soup which was very good. Prices very reasonable. You can also visit the Old Prison. It is succinct and probably very different from what it was at the time but it depicts some interesting facts. I also enjoyed looking at the agricultural tools and carriages of the 19th century which are exposed in the courtyard.
Only stopped by for a drink. Interesting location, very bright and airy but warm in winter. Could perhaps do with a bit of an update to the museum aspect but the cafe is nice and the outside area pleasant to look at.
Good points !!!!
The best bacon sandwich I've had !!!!
If you've driven past 100 times.. you need to stop at least once !! Get a quick bite to eat or a coffee & look round .
We arranged a stop with near 100 scooters and kindly looked after .
*Constructive criticism* Some of us had ordered in advance , but waited near an hour to get a coffee and a bacon roll not knowing if we was going to get anything and although names where given service staff where unsure who had ordered what . People who ordered when they arrived where being served quicker than those that had preorders. Shame because I definitely would have indulged in another bacon sandwich had I have not had to wait an hour .
Everywhere was clean & tidy & although alot arrived all the staff where smiling during the time we was looked after .
Payment was easy & swift giving name ment transactions where simple .
