Great quirky place to have some tea and cake. There is a gentleman's room upstairs and a Alice in Wonderland style decorated room downstairs. The staff is very friendly.

The Eccentric Englishman since 2021! This place is a true gem in town. The unique blend of 19th-century gothic-industrial steam-powered machinery and a touch of Phileas Fogg's spirit creates an unforgettable atmosphere. Lord and Lady Muck have truly outdone themselves with this establishment. From the moment you step in, you're transported to a world of elegance, soft-gothic charm, and inventive Steampunk aesthetics. The ongoing events, from Bottomless Brunch, comedy night, Harry Potter, to live music, ensure that there's always something exciting happening here. The decor is impressive, a perfect mix of historic and whimsical elements. The staff is friendly, and the cleanliness of the place is commendable. I'm eagerly looking forward to returning for their delightful cocktails. If you're seeking an exceptional experience that blends history, creativity, and a touch of eccentricity, The Eccentric Englishman is the place to be!

We popped in for a quick cocktail and hot chocolate - I have to say it was absolutely amazing!! The whole place feels welcoming, the atmosphere feels like a dream and the staff are so attentive and friendly! I ended up having a cheesecake - todays special was biscoff, it was delicious - though I probably could’ve shared it (I didn’t, sorry not sorry) would definitely recommend!!

Wow, what can i say? Eccentric is the right name for this place, what an eclectic decor, but its so cool at the same time, the prices are very good and a lot to choose from on the menu, they even do home made cheesecake fresh every day with everything from a full english to afternoon tea. You really need to come here.

This is a special and beautiful little gem of a place but more so for the atmosphere and surroundings that are unique and endearing and not so much for the food (lunches) better as a tea and cake experience than substantial food (especially Jacket potatoes) quite a waste really tiny potato just done in the microwave. It's a bit pot luck if they are open so can't really plan easily so if planning to meet up with friends I always bear in mind that there's always the chance that you they haven't managed to open or closed early.

Brilliantly quirky spot, as the name would suggest! Delicious sandwiches, delectable cheesecake and a brilliant cuppa. Felt welcomed even though I was sat alone. Big thumbs up! Support local folks.

A 40th birthday celebration. 8 adults, 4 children. One vegetarian, one dairy free. We booked the room upstairs. The decor is quirky, but quite cosy. Eccentric it is. They catered for all ages and requirements. They seemed to have gone out of their way for dairy free food. The cocktails come in a teapot to be drunk in a cup and saucer. Great and interesting choice. We started off with quiche, sausage roll and mini pizza, followed by sandwiches followed by three different puddings. The eton mess, tart and cheesecake were to die for. Finally washed down with a cup of tea. The service was attentive but not in your face. We were not rushed. If you have a party of people book upstairs as it is private and comfortable. We had a great time and have plans to go back soon.

If you're looking for a charming little bakery to sit and have a coffee and a cake in Northampton town centre, may I recommend Liz and the Eccentric Englishman. Wonderful cake shop with a very chilled ambience. Coffee is excellent. Cake is fabulous. Liz is good fun and passionate about town centre businesses. Do not miss this gem of a place!

Enjoyed a lovely chat with the bowler hatted gentleman while waiting for lunch, a tasty sandwich cut in quarters in a box with a bit of salad & a few crisps, perfect for at the desk or on the go with a drink it's a deal for £7.00. There's also lots of choice, definitely going back.
