We booked the Bold for a small funeral wake and the food was absolutely lovely - buffet and loads of it. Would thoroughly recommend for any small private party or similar event.

One of the best pubs I have ever been to would definitely recommend it. Lovely bar staff. Lovely food. The refurbishment makes a whole lot difference. A nice outdoor area.
Regularly have an entertainer.
The Bold has always been an excellent pub and under the new management/owners it has had an update to make it an even better pub than before. Very well done!
The menu is good British pub grub. The sweet chilli chicken soup got a big thumbs up. The side dish of chips was huge and the pie was lovely. Four of us left after two courses feeling fat, full and happy. Can't review the puddings as no one could manage one!
Food was absolutely superb! Visited at lunchtime, the restaurant section was lovely and intimate and really quiet when we visited. Every part of the meal was just perfect, presentation was great and the portion sizes were really generous, will definitely be coming again!
It's an excellent place to eat with a great menu - it's what I'd call solid homely food, and the portions were excellent for the price. This is going to be a regular visit!

Recently had a refurb and it looks and feels great. Lovely family pub with a nice garden good service. Even the normal clientel seem helpful and polite. Great place to take family or friends or a night out with the guys. The split bar is great for splitting customers in to the areas and mood they feel at the time! The one negative is that it is expensive compared to others in the area
I went to have lunch. You should book in advance if you decide to go on the weekend.
I tried the roast dinner with beef and some pate for starter. I definitely recommend the meringue cream with natural fruits for dessert.
It's a quiet and family place.
Good value for quality and quantity of food.

23/10 Blimey! All change and changing! Since my original review the pub has been bought by the community and it is going through significant change.
Now? An awfully strong selection of beers, lagers and cider. Really good refurb so far. Lounge? Work in progress.

I visited the Bold Dragon for the first time today to grab some lunch. I had the cod and chips from the light bites menu, with a southern comfort and coke on the side. We came in at 2pm on a Saturday, and the indoor seating was at about half capacity when we sat down.
Service was fast and friendly. The staff were polite with plenty of smiles, and seemed like they genuinely wanted to be there. Facilities were also very clean and very well maintained.
When the food came, I was very pleasantly surprised. This portion was very generous, especially considering it came from the light bites menu. The chips were nice and crispy on the exterior, and soft and fluffy on the interior. Not too greasy, just right. The behemoth of a cod I had was nice and chunky, with a batter that was the perfect combination of crispy and flakey. The only thing I will say is that I feel like the cod could have maybe been prepared and cooked using a little more seasoning, but it's nothing a little bit of salt at the table couldn't help.
Overall I'd say if you're looking for a pleasant pub experience at a reasonable price, there's something for everyone at the Bold Dragoon. Although I didn't try it, it does also have quite and extensive vegetarian and vegan menu, so there's plenty of consideration for dietary requirements.
In short, a very pleasant experience. I would definitely come back.
