can't speak highly enough of this place. Love popping in for a cup of tea with the children whilst their Dad cycles up to meet us. Food is fantastic, especially afternoon tea make sure you go hungry as you will need room for their gorgeous cakes!!! Farm shop is fantastic too, can highly recommend their beef best silverside I have ever had. Also love their breaded chicken with chilli and lime. They now have a little area inside where you can take (well behaved) dogs.
Thank You! True Yorkshire hospitality; called in 15 minutes after the cafe closed looking for a cuppa and although the cafe had cleaned up and were ready to switch off, we were still served 2 teas and a coffee without hesitation. We were so ready for it and and was the best tasting tea and coffee we have had in ages and my Mum really appreciated hers too. Excellent customer service.
Had a wonderful breakfast 😋😋and bought a homemade steak pie and a chocolate fudge cake to bring home. They were gorgeous - will definitely buy again. Also bought some purple carrots. Definitely worth a visit x x
Great place well worth a visit , good food , fab shop
Had a lovely time at Roots. Went on Sunday, around lunch time. Had a fab breakfast really tasty. Son had the syrup sponge and custard. He let me have a bit and it was 'to die for.' Our waitress was really great with the children. We had been for a walk at Cod Beck and Roots Contributed to a wonderful family day out
Called in yesterday( Sunday morning) for breakfast, what a lovely place to visit, atmosphere was very welcoming and the food was lovely
Every bike ride I ever do ends here . Good honest food and super friendly service. Pork pies get 10/10, bacon from the onsite butcher 11/10, Sloe Gin 15/10, beans on toast is epic and the stew is to do die for. Give it a whirl people :)
I bought a huge piece of beef fillet about 15 months ago from here (meant to cook it for Xmas 2016 but then decided on the rib of beef which was also AMAZING) and it has been sitting in my freezer until now. We’ve just had it as a beef wellington for tea and OMG. Honestly the best beef I have ever tasted. Whatever you guys are doing with your cattle you’re doing it right. Flavour is just amazing
First time here today and it is fab!!! Staff are friendly and enough room for the pram! Brill place will be back x
Went for the afternoon tea and it was fabulous. Excellent value for money, lovely produce and friendly, welcoming staff. Can’t wait to return.
Just been for the steak night I had a t-bone for the first time in years and it was so succulent, juicy, tender and cooked exactly as I'd asked. Well worth every penny and we'll definitely be going back.
Would highly recommend.
The cafe had a great selection of sweet and savoury dishes, including vegetarian options, and good tea and coffee.
There's also a farm and gift shop next to the cafe worth exploring.
Plenty of racks to leave your bike if you are cycling in the area.
Lovely place to visit. The food in the cafe was delicious, we had breakfast but will return another time to try the lunch menu. Had a nice walk around the farm shop and bought a few bits. Will definitely return and would highly recommend
What can I say, other than this was one of the best bowls of Beef Stew that I have ever tasted! We have eaten in the Farm Cafe several times before, and have always enjoyed the food and the comfortable surroundings. On this occasion, we made a snap decision to call in for lunch. Despite the cafe being very busy, we were greeted by the staff as we entered the building and were seated immediately. The service was prompt and the staff were courteous and friendly, although I occasionally felt they weren't giving us their full attention as they were constantly having to move on to the next customer. We couldn't fault the food, which arrived speedily. My Beef Stew was incredibly chunky, with huge pieces of beef and potato, and it tasted fantastic. My partner opted for the quiche and she was equally impressed. Overall, a wonderful meal and a very pleasant experience. I have no doubt we will return sometime soon.
What a gorgeous place, cafe, farm and food shop, gift shop.
Not cheap but quality is excellent. Everyone is so friendly and professional.
Today I had the veggie quiche, homemade it was full of veggies not just tomato!!!!
Salad was delicious.

Lovely, quant, cosy, and very, very delicious. Wide selection of fresh meat, baked treats, bread, sauces, cheese and more. Excellent
I had a good experience with the cafe and the butchers, well worth a visit for the food and the friendly staff. I will be be back if only for the ginger sponge and custard.
Great place for a lunch or tea/coffee break. Surprisingly not that busy at weekends. Cafe offers delicious farm food - defo recommend trying it! Also can buy some food in the shop!
Visited here a few times and each time the food has been great. Small seating area for dogs which is seperate but it is warm and comfy. Service is also great.
First return there since the habit was broken by the lockdown. We will definitely start visiting monthly again. As always, excellent light meals in the cafe and wonderful produce in the shop.
