Delicious food, variety of food was excellent. Service incomparable. I had the rosti breakfast and my travelling partner had the full English breakfast. Both delicious. Tea was scrumptious, served well. A short wait, nothing significant.
Met a friend who had never visited any of the Betty's, she loved it. It's an experience in itself. Food fantastic as always. I had the vegan breakfast, she had eggs royal. Fantastic coffee, we were so full we just admired the cake trolley from afar! Betty's isn't cheap but it's a little bit of affordable luxery
Went to Bettys as we had been to another one and really liked it.
We had a short wait, and the staff kept us up to date with wait times.
We got sat down and our order was taken in good time, the waitress was very thorough with my partners gluten intolerance which was great.
Our food and drinks arrived in good time. We thought we asked for fries with our sandwiches but got chips, we chose not to say anything as we weren't 100% sure if we had specifically said fries.
There was a really overpowering smell shortly before we got our food - not sure if it was the table next to us or the kitchen but it was so strong it overpowered our own food. We think the smell might have been a certain type of cheese? Other people certainly noticed too.
One of our teas was also wrong but again chose not to say anything.
In summary - a great place, lovely food and staff but just a few little negatives which aren't really acceptable when we paid £70 for 3 sandwiches, chips and drinks.
My favourite Betty's! The service is always exceptional and food is very delicious.
(Can't leave Betty's without a fruit tart to go)
A delicious fruit tart desert, fresh fruits, vanilla cream well elaborated and fresh pastry crunchy. I could see that the tart was made at that moment and could feel the freshness of it. I tried a You Lou White Tea alongside with my tart and it matches perfectly, the tea is made with the first herbs growing at the end of winter and you can definitely feel the peaceful and light taste.
I had the opportunity to be served by Ellie and she was just lovely, smiling all the time, very patience and ready to help, providing us the attention a first time customer need.
Finally, the shop, full of chocolate, tea, coffee, not to mention the fabulous fruit cake with marzipan and gift boxes to be enjoyed by your loved ones.
I highly recommend the visit with your family.
Wow what a difference, last time I placed a complaint, this time Mum & I had a lovely time. Joshua was lovely, polite, friendly and attentive without being overpowering. Joshua offered Mum a gluten free menu which is a massive improvement on our last visit and the food was beautiful. Thank you for making our Mother's day and birthday catch up one to remember for the right reasons and well done I would gladly come again.
Finally get the chance to dine at Betty’s after many attempts to walk in at York.
We were in the area by chance and saw that they have a branch here. Walked in and waited not more than 10 minutes for our table.
Enjoyed our order of fish & chip, soup of the day, sandwiches and hot chocolate. The scones were good too.
Great selection of desserts.
Above average for price. But worth the visit.
My husband and I took his Mum and Dad for afternoon tea today, it was their 67th wedding anniversary, it was absolutely perfect couldn't have asked for anything more, the service, the food and atmosphere was 100% spot on. I would say it is a nicer tearoom than the one in York and Harrogate. Thank you team Northallerton for making our special couples day a really special treat. They loved it.
Enjoyed coffee and a Fat Rascal in Northallerton. It's quite pricey. However, we were disappointed at how small the coffees were and how quickly they became cold, despite using hot milk. I asked if they could be topped up, but they would only offer hot water, which made the coffee weak.
It's been Years in the making but I finally came to the world famous Betty's Cafe.
Fantastic place, yes I know its expensive but it's well worth it.
The ambience, the settings, the service is outstanding.
The food is lovely and you get a great selection of savoury food as well as the famous sweet dishes 😋
It's just a really good place to go especially when you need a treat.
I will definitely be going back again.
I highly recommend this place
Love Bettys! I really enjoyed my Gooey Rascal with cream. Next time, I'm going to try it with ice-cream. Hubby had a toasted fruit scone. Everything was delicious.
Lovely place in Northallerton. Great menu with quality food at reasonable cost. We dined in to start with and the food was good. There is a takeaway cake shop and we bought a couple of sultana scones to take home. These were not so good, they had a strange taste and were a little dry.
Lovely relaxing place.
I have to say that the regulars were quite rude barging in past us and charging to their particular table but that is not a reflection on Betty's.
Beautiful food and attention to detail. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff.
The facilities were spotlessly clean and welcoming.
Thoroughly enjoyed by visit to Betty’s at Northallerton. Loved the bright and open layout inside, seating and atmosphere was very incoming and comfortable.
Staff were very friendly and helpful and all wore masks.
Hands sanitiser was available in various places and the facilities were stunning and spotless.
Food was also excellent. I had the fried haddock with fries, which was thoroughly enjoyable. Fries and batter were golden and fish was moist. Neither were oily. Crushed peas were the star of the show to me though with a punchy flavour (undertones of mint but not too much). Overall the dish was fresh, flavourful and well presented.
Desserts were excellent, as you might expect. Brown Bread Sundae was a stand out for me.
Breakfast tea was exactly what I was after. Full bodied and very strong. Perfect partner for the fish and fries.
Overall, great experience. Would go again.
I was there for brunch and had eggs royale, beautifully cooked and delicious. I had a cafetiere of the house blend coffee which was lovely. It is a long time since I was in Betty's and I was a little disappointed that the choice of coffee in a cafetiere was not as plentiful as it once was, only 3 on the menu. A sign of the economic climate perhaps.
A delicious lunch at this infamous delightful Café.
(We were a little apprehensive as our last experience at Betty’s at Harrogate was rather stuffy & food very underwhelming.)
However, today’s visit to Northallerton Café restored all faith!
Our luncheon was delicious, well presented and the staff, dressed in neat black & white, were just lovely. Although we didn’t select the infamous ‘Afternoon Tea’ we did thoroughly enjoy Salmon & prawn gratin and Chicken schnitzel. Our two delicious deserts of choice from a tantalising array of treats were brought to the table on the ‘sweet trolley’. After much thought we chose the pear frangipani and chocolate torte served with scrumptious ice cream.
What a lovely treat indeed .
Amazing place, superb service, excellent staff, delightful food. Well worth the money for the Betty's experience
We'd been holidaying just north of Newcastle, on our way back to Brum, and were looking to stop at our favourite Tea Room in Harrogate. Totally surprised to find this one, only a slight diversion off the A1. Like it's larger sister, we were not surprised to find a queue outside. Half an hour is a very small price to pay if you value service and quality. Both were exactly what we expected. I tried one of their speciality Cafetières of coffee, which was one of the best I've ever had. Worth every penny. If you've never visited a Bettys, it needs to go on your list immediately.
Excellent place and atmosphere. I didn't enjoy the muselli but others in the party enjoyed the food. I have to say prices are going to put you out of reach of a lot of people. A shame. But friendly staff and excellent service.
