I visited The Lock for a third time last night. I am so impressed I have taken different family and friends with me each time � nothing was too much trouble to the point where Enzo the chef made fresh soup in order for my dad to try at home as he wasn’t with us. What a generous kind thing to do. So far between us we have had breakfast, coffee and cake, evening meal and drinks all delicious so my experience and opinion amazing food, fabulous staff and management fantastic venue and great value� I will be going again with more friends at the weekend if I can wait that long �
Cheated on the view and nipped in as ideal pit stop on this hot sunny Sunday. Walked from Wallsend to Lock then continued walk to the view. First visit and was lovely and views of marina in the sun epic too. Only had pint but staff seemed lovely and seen the gaffa chatting on to customers which is always good interaction. Planning a Friday night for the two of us for some food and drinks. Can’t wait. ����
I think it all depends on when you go we went yesterday afternoon and there was plenty of friendly staff there,we had a coffee and a muffin, we will definitely be back for food as my son went back today and had the burger and said it was the best burger he had eaten in a long time.
Arrived at 1 pm lunchtime ! The Lock was busy with a lot of people dining outside aswell as inside. The staff were very efficient with no waiting time at all! The food was excellent although I would have liked a few different salads on the menu ! Well done staff 👍
Visited here for the first time this week and it certainly won't be the last! Despite being busy, we were seated quickly and our orders taken. The food arrived relatively quickly given that it is freshly made and was fabulous. We had wine with our meal which was very reasonably priced too which is unusual for a place of such high calibre. Service was great too given that it was incredibly busy and staff are new. Attentive and friendly is a great start! Looking forward to our return already. Well done to all involved! x
Amazing food, awesome views, friendly staff, great for a casual bite with the mates and even a date or to take bairns down also dog friendly!
Had a lovely get together with our friends .what an amazing view of the marina .lovely manager and staff.meals were beautiful very tasty.thanks to leona the waitress who made us so welcome .
We tried the breakfast last week which was amazing. We returned again yesterday for lunch I had steak burger and it was absolutely fantastic, my husband had the fish cakes (smoked haddock) and he really enjoyed them and my daughter had chicken pizza again it was beautiful. Staff are all lovely, I don't mind waiting a while for food as its all cooked fresh when ordered.
Food was very tasty! Service was attentive. Great location. Well worth a visit. And thank you to the lovely lady who gave me a treat after she found out it was my birthday! X
Decided with Suzanne to visit the lock and sample the menu this evening. Both had the burger and fries along with a couple of glasses of vino.
The food was fantastic and served very quickly. We both had a wonderful time and were looked after by Casey... well done Casey you were magnificent �
Great location and view with good food and drinks. Our only concern was how close the tables were to each other, so mentioned it to manager. All in all highly recommended.
Lovely and very accommodating staff. Food was delicious but portions are huge!! We couldn’t finish our meal but thoroughly enjoyed it. We will be back
We went for breakfast yesterday morning husband had a full English I had a bacon and mushroom they were both lovely nice and hot excellent service and didn’t wait long and it was busy definitely be back

Lovely presentation of the food and the quality was great.
We were very lucky to pop in for a delicious bunch and we took home two yummy muffins for the journey home.

Lovely cafe/bar with amazing marina views. Very attentive and welcoming staff. We went for a coffee and cake only and they were great- and we really enjoyed marina views! Looking forward to coming back on some sunny afternoon to enjoy a drink on the terrace.
Always a pleasure to come here. The staff were friendly and welcoming, despite the place being rammed. We sat outside as it was fully booked but it gave us the opportunity to take in the great views whilst enjoying a crisp glass of wine and some food. Will continue to return here.
The food and atmosphere here is always great! The only reason it’s not a 5 ⭐️ review is that the menu here has been modified often. The most recent change is that they no longer do a Sunday lunch which is a real shame because it was the best around! The pizza I got instead was delicious though!
I sometimes pop along here for my lunch break but hadn't been for a while .
I had a lovely greeting from one of the serving team who remembered me and also my coffee order . That was so nice and made me feel welcome .
I tried the salmon on the new specials menu it was great .
The Lock is situated on the marina and you get some lovely views sitting in the window seats .
I've been here a number of times and they have a great menu, service was particularly good on this visit, I only dropped a star on the food because on this occasion the fish had been over cooked and was quite dry, I have had other food before that was cooked perfectly!!
We had the breakfast menu personally a fully loaded stottie.. and it was fully loaded ...coiled Cumberland ..bacon...mushrooms beans in a tub 2 half tomatoes...and washed down with ringtons tea ..lovely staff all on hand for top ups and bits n bobs.. we visit regularly and do takeaway coffee sp we can walk the marina...
Stopped off here for a coffee and a muffin. Such a chilled place to watch the boats come in and out. Parking was free as we used the top car park and the registration system couldn't have been easier. Just enter your car reg on the tablet inside and press enter, simple.
We had a bit of a wait for 2 drinks which were brought to us instead of just letting us wait for them at the bar but other than that, a lovely place to go.
Nice place with good food and good service. Perfect located at the port. Love it.
Fish and chips & veggie pizza (goat cheese and caramelised onions) were 😋. The menu, however, has modified quite considerably, and many seafood dishes are no longer on the menu.
It's busy Sunday and the service was a bit slow due to very few staff.
Very quiet for a Friday night. But food made up for the lack of atmosphere. Lovely location on the Quay side. Very friendly staff. Fish and chips are superb, nicest I have had in a long time, as was the Blackened Salmon fillet. Good selection of drinks from the bar including cocktails. The prices are very good and portion sizes are big. The decor was modern and clean with plenty of glass so the view out was unhindered. There is also plenty of outside seating. Would definitely recommend.
Food was lovely. Asked for the bill, waited 15 mins and the lassie was just wandering around cleaning tables so I gave up and paid on the way out the door
The breakfast and service was excellent. 4 1/2 stars (there is no option for the half but…) because the parking closest to the restaurant (pink car park) is expensive, if you park a little further on the green car park you will get free parking from the restaurant. Will come again and park further if needed but overall lovely experience and the view was great where we sat.
We arrived to the Lock not long before they closing time but staff made us feel welcome with friendly and professional service. Unfortunately they had no food left so the staff went beyond their duties and provided for us amazing sharing platter for us . Very grateful and will definitely return in no time
My luxury hot chocolate was warm, not extra hot, as requested, and the waitress brought me another. No fuss. She was so pleasant. On a fine day it is so pleasant having a cuppa outside looking over the beautiful Marina.
Food very good. During busy times food can take a while but we were told this straight away... Told 40 mins when ordering but arrived faster, well within 25 minutes. Good menu, delicious food.

My friend and I took our grandchildren for one of their birthdays great experience.
We had to wait for a table but it wasn't for long the waiter couldn't have been more apologetic. We had chosen what we wanted but the kids choice wasn't available so the kids decided to have pizza instead and a side of chips. My granddaughter said her pizza had been made in heaven it was beautiful, to hear 2 9yr old enthusiastic comments about their meal was fab. We had said to the waiter it was one of their birthday at the beginning of the meal. He came back at the end with two cupcakes with all the cream and chocolate sauce trimmings how wonderful.
Grans meals of pizza wraps were devious too.
Customer service top class.
We will be returning with the rest of the family in tow the next time. Not a lot of places like this.
Pity the weather hadn't been better it would be glorious on a sunny day.
