Thank goodness this little pub remains unspoiled, a hidden gem on the fish quay. Called in today after the Christmas market and had THE best sunday lunch. Veg cooked to perfection and a huge portion of proper roast potatoes along with a humongous light and fluffy yorkshire. Incredible value for money. Warm welcome, literally with the coal fire blazing away while snow fluttered down outside.Best pub in the area by far.

Love this pub . Totally unspoilt traditional pub with a great atmosphere , staff are always friendly and efficient . They also serve the best pie, chips and mushy peas you have ever had for a very reasonable price ! I would highly recommend it

I'm a great fan of this place! The food, the warm welcome is second to none! Today I introduced my Nephew and his Fiance from down south to the pub! Their words were this is the best Sunday lunch we have ever had and we would be glad to do a 5 hour drive for another one!High praise indeed but only how expected them to react. Thanks chefs and staff x

Called in for a pint, ended up having the best cod I’ve ever tasted in a pub, roaring coal fire and top notch staff. Highly recommended

Fantastic! Been in a few times and always enjoyed it every time but today we popped in for a drink and the staff informed us of beef baguette and chips on the bar for free. We tasted and we loved, we will be back for food. Great place. Keep it up

Were in tynemouth for the weekend and happened on this fantastic little pub after a stroll along the fish Quay. What a find. Fab beer, fab selection of rums, vodka and gins not to mention the fantastic pies made on the premises. All the staff, owners and customers were super friendly. We will definitely be back for another all day session. Lyndsay was lovely and helpful too xx

Delicious Sunday Lunch, excellent service, can’t fault the place. I had the corned beef pie with roasties and veg and it was scrumptious! Well done for such loveliness on a boiling hot busy summers day. Excellent!!

This place is an amazing little bar for great food and drink. I met this man Nigel Devine who made the place feel like my local pub back home. The staff was lovely. The food was fantastic( fish and chips) there was so much that I couldn't finish it all. You won't go hungry eating here. The portions are American sized. It was crowded with locals in the bar area but I was able to get into the music room for a meal and 2 pints. I highly recommend this to anyone visiting anywhere near Newcastle or North Shields.

( Wednesday 09/08/2023) I had a delicious plate of twice cooked chips, mushy peas ,salad, homemade tartar sauce, and beer battered cod. Karin had the salmon on a bed of pasta quills in a spicy ,creamy tomato sauce with garlic bread. We also ordered a side of beer battered onion rings. We both thought that the quality and portions were generous and top quality. The chap that welcomed us and served us was the real star of the Low Light Tavern. Delicious food, great value, and fantastic service.

Traditional pub with a great atmosphere in the heart of the fishquay. Pies are the showstoppers here. Steak and ale pie, chock-a-block with filling, Corned Beef pie is a classic done really well and probably the best we've ever had. Gravy rich and tasty and mushy peas are lush. Only criticism is that the battered cod was measly for the price. That was a let down. Whilst the Waterfront chippy at the bottom of the street can't compete on pies and pints, they do knock spots off the lowlights for fish. They do monster battered cod for less cost. I would go back to the Lowlights for pies and pints only.

Didn't really know anything about this great, historic, traditional pub, had been attracted by photos of the food on Facebook. Was shocked when we opened the door, couldn't believe how packed it was at 6 pm Friday The music room was shoulder to shoulder but with great atmosphere waiting for the gig to start. Standing room only in the bar area. Staff efficient, friendly and very helpful. Thinned out a little around 7 and we got a table which meant we could enjoy the fantastic pies

My first time at this lovely little pub sampling their famous pies and wasn't disappointed. Probably the best I've ever eaten, accompanied by proper chips and proper gravy. Good selection of lagers and ales. Dogs are welcome and a friendly, bustling atmosphere await inside.
