Food was amazing..I had the dirty chips as a main meal...should have gone for the smaller size as the portion was massive...although on the plus side they gave me a take away box, so hubby and I had it for tea! Great food...great staff and a really nice atmosphere..will definitely be going back!
We were on a long journey from Devon to Essex and needed somewhere to stop for a quick bite to eat before hitting the road. When we stepped inside we saw a small bar area and didn't think we'd be able to get a table for all 10 of us. When the waitress took us through to our table we couldn't have been more suprised. What a stunning view. This is a gorgeous place to go for a meal and the food and service was great. I'd definitely recommend. It's just a shame we live too far away to come back anytime soon.
We were there yesterday for lunch, having walked from Riverside in South Molton; our walk ended with us ankle deep in a bog and having to wash our legs and shoes in the River! We arrived at the pub and explained what had happened, and the lady behind the bar informed us that another couple had just done the same thing! I was concerned about us being too scruffy; she wasn't! We had an amazing Sunday roast, mine nut, my other half the chicken! The food was incredible, veg selection fab and cooked to perfection! I would totally recommend this pub!
Fabulous place brilliant staff
great food very comfortable room would highly recommend we would definitely return
Went for lunch today, food was scrumptious, our dog was welcomed, definitely recommend this pub.
Stopped here for a quick bite to eat on a drive home from Devon. Thought we could just grab a pub dinner but was led through to the restaurant and was amazed by it and the views of the surrounding area. There were 10 of us ranging in age from 6mnths to 39yrs. Good to suit all of us and very friendly staff.
I'd visit again if passing by.

Stopped here as we were out for a drive and we wasn't disappointed the food was delicious and nothing was to much trouble. This pub is a hidden gem.
Served us a lovely lunch 10 minutes after kitchen closed. So obliging and pleasant staff. Excellent food. Fabulous views from dining room. Quirky too would definitely go there again *****
Amazing place, amazing staff, amazing food, amazing drinks and friendly customers.
If Carlsberg owned a pub it would probably be this one.
I had my 50th birthday party here on 20 February 2016 food and venue and staff were great recommend it for anyone partys of any kind
Me and my son Josh had our evening meal here, it was excellent, and my son comments was "that was the best meal he has had in a long time" and the staff went out of there way to make the whole evening special...
Soon to be our new local so we've been in a couple of times while checking out the area..today was the first time eating...great food, great service and happy friendly staff.
Very friendly staff. Good menu. Nice view from the restaurant.
Friendly staff ... lush food, outstanding views and comfy beds..what more could you ask for! Definitely worth a visit.
Great staff, great place to stop on the link road from Devon.
Awesome burgers!
After surviving the arduous walk from South Molton to North Molton I was needed to find a quiet corner to recover. The staff were lovely even offering to keep the kitchen open until our friends arrived
We went for a meal on a Tuesday evening in October, the pub (Inn) was nicely busy with a mix of locals and tourists. The atmosphere was lovely, very warm welcome from the lady serving behind the bar. The food was delicious, well prepared, especially the homemade pumpkin soup, and the Prawn linguine. The waitress was positive which made every interaction enjoyable. Another plus it was great value. I would say its would probably be worth booking as I think the Poltimore Inn would get busy at the weekends and high season.
WOW! What a place. We went there for a telescope course and found a fantastic pub! Food was great, waitresses were attentive and service was brilliant. Observatory is fabulous and we saw such a lot, lucky to catch a clear sky. Definitely will be back and recommend.
It was extremely busy when I visited here (the restaurant, bar & garden were full) and there were only 3 members of staff working but they were fantastic. I don't know how they managed to accommodate and serve so many customers so quickly.
Extremely efficient, professional and friendly.
I had the Chicken & Halloumi Salad and it was really tasty and a good-sized portion👌
Dog- friendly too 🙂
Pleasant pub situated in a typical small and picturesque Devon village just outside Exmoor. The interior is a little sterile but I guess that makes a change from the usual village pub chintz. I liked the restaurant with the views across the rolling countryside. Others in my party didn't. The food was decent and reasonably priced. It can get busy and the service does then slow down noticeably.
I stayed with friend's at The Poltimore Inn during the last bank holiday weekend in May whilst there for a friend's wedding festivities. Debbie and her staff did a fab job hosting us and many other's for the long weekend. The wedding reception was held at the hotel and it all went smoothly and really well. The room was lovely and spacious. All the facilities were really nice. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to North Devon / Exmoor National Park.
Just had a few nights away in North Devon and cannot rate the Poltimore Inn highly enough.
Friendly attentive staff and fabulous food and clean rooms with fantastic views.
The poached eggs were so good that I had them every morning!
This is a great pub/hotel. We’ve stayed here many times in the past the views from the rooms are great and the food that is served is always perfect. The staff can’t do enough for you.
We stayed in the lodges at the rear of the pub. They were lovely, quiet, clean & modern. Great pub, good food, nice bar & friendly staff. Very bike friendly as well.
Lovely pub with great staff and delicious food. Nicely appointed beer garden, perfect for a sunny evening!
Lovely food, good atmosphere. Dogs welcome in one area.
The waitresses were lovely. Unfortunately, there was a till issue and our lunch didn't go through to the kitchen so we had a wait. We weren't offered any discount or free drinks but they did apologize a number of time. These things happen.
Food was worth the wait (had the butternut squash crumble) hot and good size.
Would return and would recommend
Great pub, lovely food, and a lovely location. Well worth a visit. We stayed in one of the lodges, which are lovely, would recommend that a mirror be placed near to a plug socket, we ended removing the full length mirror and using it propped up near the window. The shower room is brilliant, however the base of the shower tray is lethal, a non slip mat is an absolute must.
We didn't enjoy the 5 am wakeup call, with the cockerel opting to use the fence of our small patio!! He announced the sun was rising, by 5.05am he'd have looked good in a pie!!!
Great place to meet and eat with friends and family and enjoy the restaurant and outside spaces. Reasonably priced and good service.
2nd stay here, we were in the lodges thus time with our dog, another wonderful experience. Highly recommended.
Great Sunday carvery and they let us bring our dogs in!
Reasonable prices, my food was mouth watering! Lovely place and nice hospitality, recommended :)
We had such a lovely time staying in this pub as a group of four (a couple and two friends). They were so generous to give us an upgrade to a suite that happened to be free. It was a lovely apartment downstairs with two generous doubles, a spacious twin, and a huge living room opening to the garden. The grounds are gorgeous, views incredible, and food and drink just what we were after. Will definitely return!
We booked a table here as it was the closest pub serving meals to our venue. We were very pleased with everything. The staff were warm, welcoming and very helpful. The food was excellent and arrived after an acceptable time for it to be freshly cooked. Real chips too!😊
The seating area is light and clean, and pleasant ambient music was playing in the background.
There is parking on the square opposite, not sure about any other parking. Well worth a visit.
