Review Duke Of Cumberland - North Ferriby

Andrew Nell
The Duke of Cumberland is a lovely big old mock tudor pub. There is a wide range of beers, lagers, and cider, including three cask conditioned real ales, which were in excellent condition on our visit. There is plenty of choice on the food menu and daily specials during the week. There is a bar with a dartboard and a pool table. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. It's a nice pub with a large car park.

Our visit to the Duke of Cumberland was a memorable one. We stopped in for a few drinks and some food, and we were pleasantly surprised. The mac & cheese was a standout, well presented and cooked to perfection. The beer was just what we needed, incredibly refreshing. The pub itself had a fantastic blend of old-world charm and modern elements, creating an inviting atmosphere. Plus, they offered pool and darts, adding to the entertainment. It was an all-around great experience!

Always great times and service, there is a really good vibe here and the food is fantastic pub grub with the modern twist, I have even seen some older people enjoying the modern sharer dishes, digging in and smiling with every bite Clive. Pictures to follow.

What an amazing little pub with outstanding food electric atmosphere and very welcoming. The staff here could not do enough for us, me and my wife came here for our 1 year anniversary. I pre booked a table and what a good job it was full lively busy but in all the right ways and it was booked just off chance. The lady that owns the pub made her job to make sure we were satisfied and had everything we need, upon discovering the place we were staying had no shower she offered us her own personal shower and bath in the morning. This lady didn’t know us from the next person and was so kind and caring. We are already booking it into our trip for next year to make a tradition of it we felt that welcome and the food was that good. Thank you ever so much Josh & Bonnie

We've love this pub, great atmosphere and staff... But the food 😢 It's slowly been going downhill for a long (long) time. I've kept quiet, no reviews, as this is our local, but this today was just wrong on so many levels. A hotdog, a burger, and some onion rings.. Burnt sausage, the burger had so much carbon you could use it to make a diamond, and the onion rings!!??? They had a trace of onion, but because they were so overcooked, you couldn't taste the onion; even the onion content from a BK onion ring is higher. The irony is I had to complain, in person, when I ordered a burger last year. Mainly because it was uncooked in the middle. It wasn't "rare", but uncooked! So, as you can tell, I'm not happy with the food. I'm not holding out for a vast improvement as this has been getting worse for the past 4 years 🤷‍♂️ Anywho, if you read this far, you deserve a pat on the back.

What can I say….. As a hospitality professional of over 16 years I was totally blown away with the pre service with Victoria and the service on the day by Lydia. You hosted my husbands surprise leaving party (he is in the RAF and being deployed for 4 months next week) and you looked after the large group of us excellently. Nothing was too much trouble, Lydia was constantly available and present. Glasses and plates cleared pretty much instantly, all with smiles. The pub was really busy but the staff were utterly smashing it. Drinks & menu selection was fabulous, I am currently not drinking and your no alcohol selection was fabulous too. Victoria even popped over when she returned to check we’d had a great time (I left 4 balloons for her children) We live in The Cotswolds but visit our family at least every other month and after this exceptional visit we’ll be there more. We plan to move up to Yorkshire within the next 2 years and fingers crossed we will hopefully end up in North Ferribly with what I think would be the best local ever! Thank you very much, especially to Lydia.

Attended a party on Saturday night in the main bar in a reserved area, (not a private function as not paid for). Uninvited guests were able to use the area as it's a public bar. Staff were amazing! Worked so hard to serve and clear which couldn't have been easy as was extremely busy. There was an incident during the evening (obviously fuelled by alcohol) which was dealt with in a very professional manner by the Manager. I understand he is now being vilified for doing his best in an extremely difficult situation. I find this unacceptable and unnecessary. Hospitality is struggling currently post covid, times are hard for us all. I need my local to continue to be the amazing place it is thanks to a great team with great management. With the continued support of our fabulous community this will happen!! Thanks to all who serve us from Management to cleaners, you are all truly appreciated.
