The food is top notch but it would be better if the meals such as currys and beef chilli garlic or anything with a sauce should be put into a container with a lid as it doesn't matter how careful you are the box gets covered and it makes for a messy eat .
stopped by for a quick breakfast, and was not disappointed at all! quaint and homely restaurant, very reasonably priced. only grouse is that the waitress didn't hang around much in the dining area so it was a little difficult to get her attention when we wanted to call for the bill.
My wife and i visited Newton Stewart for 5 days.Stayed at Machermore castle. Tried a few places but The Scent o Galloway has the best food,the best service and the fairest prices in the whole of Scotland.
Steak pie is amazing. All day breakfast is out of this world. Desserts are delicious. Anyone v
Proper home cooking at its best. Fabulous portions, fairly priced. Delectable waitresses. Nice, relaxed atmosphere. Go again and again.
Don't be put off by the shop front or decor.
2 adults and 2 kids fed and watered for £24!! Delicious food and very friendly waiting staff.
I know where to go next time we're in Newton Stewart.

Came in to get paninis, got home and they were delicious so just had to come back and get the biscoff waffles! Scrumptious 😋😋😋
Followed the Google reviews, went for breakfast. We were not to sure when we first went in but the food was lovely and service was friendly. Tattie scone was a big hit!

love this wee place, mac and cheese is fab steak pie is soooo good oh my god i need to go there today, any way food is great price of food is supper great, the girls do a fabulous job, i love going to eat here :)
The past few weekends we've had carry out steak pie and chips 2 with no pastry 1 without and I must say very tasty and good value too....

Went to the riverside cafe at 1st then decided to leave ,it was a bit like a canteen atmosphere .loud and busy and after being told we couldn't sit were we wanted also a pricey menu it was time to leave.came to the scent of Galloway..lovely and cosy nice prices and food nice waitresses attentive..
Once again had a lovely meal at the scent o galloway ,Iwish to add that our waitress (a young girl) is an asset to your team she is a wee cracker ,such bliss getting served by someone who puts customers first ,and not their mobile phones once again thank you it was our pleasure
