Absolutely fantastic bookshop and café, the Scottish oatcakes with a selection of cheeses and onion chutney was one of the best lunchtime meals I have ever had, not to mention the splendid Russian caravan tea! Good selection of books, both old and new and the staff made us feel really welcome, will certainly be returning next year!
I love this shop. Just spent a lovely morning there, great company, books and fiid Thank you Andrew and Christine. We'll be back
Andrew's knowledge of Scotland is inspiring. Beltie Books is a open space, full of light to fuel creativity, I adore sitting in the garden on a sunny day with a book or newspaper.
We had a really nice visit bought a couple of books and had a delightful snack, the owners were so helpful with local information. Worth a visit if you are in the area.
What a gorgeous cafe, in a lovely little town. I had cherry & almond cake fresh out of oven (we saw it come out!), lovely coffee, peaceful garden, great selection of books and a warm welcome and obvious pride in the area they live in from the people working in there. All of you - visit!
Got me hooked on courgette cake a wonderful place to relax out in the back garden.
Lovely goats cheese & broccoli flan, and deserts. Good service and nice surroundings and atmosphere.
The Beltie was sweet warm and inviting... And the hot cocoa was perfect on a cold winter's day. Thanks for your hospitality and great views out the back (a secret garden)! We'll be back.
Cakes. Coffee. Damla the cute dog supervising the lovely cafe owners and visitors to the sweet garden. Don't miss dropping in here!
Interesting selection of books, helpful friendly staff and super food. Both shop and cafe have a light and attractive decor
Very friendly, small but carefully stocked bookshop with an excellent cafe. The homemade cheese scones are particularly memorable. An attractive selection of work by local artists and photographers adorns the walls.
What a lovely cafe and book shop. We had a really nice lunch that was great value. Highly recommended
The only place we could find open that catered for dog-owners and those gluten intolerant. The Beltie has super friendly people in an environment that leans more towards an eatery that a book-seller I would say. Gluten-free options are limited but then that's 'par for the course' unfortunately. When my wife and I left our attitude was that was alright. However we were glad we decided to opt for cake from Cafe Rendezvous (which doesn't allow dogs) and were rewarded with a divine orange and almond confection. A nice café but not the best place to eat in Wigtown.
I called onto Beltie today with 2 friends. We had a lovely table next to the window, looking out to the garden.
We all chose something different and we all enjoyed our choices. We had a lovely relaxed time. The staff: 2 members - one serving, the other- the chef were friendly and helpful.
Lovely cafe. Great coffee and dog friendly inside. Also has a lovely wee garden, which is a real sun trap. Highly recommend their chocolate cake too.
Sat outside in the lovely courtyard garden for a very late tasty snack lunch, good mug of coffee, and very delicious apple cake. Service was slow - we arrived just behind a lot of other customers and they had to dash to the shops to restock some items as they'd been unexpectedly busy. Perhaps due to another cafe being shut for the week? Would definitely return.
We called in for afternoon coffee, we ended up having a slice each of home made cake delicious. We asked could we take dog in, no problem so he sat under table waiting for scraps, friendly cafe with book shop at front and cafe behind plus on sunny days sliding doors to let the outside in or if you like the inside out. Nice gentleman running it who makes all the cakes himself.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Gorgeous garden.
Great coffee.
Delicious soup and buttery.
We bought the fig cake to take away. Best cake in the world!
Delicious freshly prepared lunch of homemade soup, toastie and scones served with latte and tea . We sat in walled garden at back which was lovely. Staff friendly and helpful - offering useful advice on cycle routes in area
A great place to stop off for coffee and cake during a book browsing visit to Wigtown. My husband is a coffee lover and thought the coffee was amazing. The rhubarb muffins were delish. Well reccomended.
Came here with my roommate on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't too busy: no line for coffee and a good amount of seating available. For the amount of people working on laptops and phones (myself included) the internet was quick, or at least quicker than I expected. The matcha latte I got here was one of the best I've had. All-around I would happily come back here!
Staff couldn't of been nicer. Dog friendly as well. Prices very reasonable with a great choice to eat . Would certainly recommend to anyone who fancied a place to eat.
Such a lovely place. Pretty garden area, a real sun trap with shade and water for our dog. Nice browsing through the books
A lovely lunch and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Very good quality food and excellent service. We will be back.
More of a cafe than a book shop. Books are cheap and a moderate amount of choice available. You can sit by the bookshelves and have a drink while you browse. Very popular with locals but plenty of seating space.
Staff are lovely, small menu but great selection of art and books.
Lovely place for a light lunch with delicious food and friendly staff.
