The Ship Inn has a small brewery next door and serves its own ales and cask. We visited on a Wednesday bearing in mind it was the summer holidays the pub was busy both in and outside. It’s not big inside but we did manage to get a bench outside. The weather was great so preferred that option. Set within a small court of fisherman’s houses it has a lovely view to the beach. Note parking might be a problem as there is no car park. Access only for residents.
Would recommend a visit just to try the ales.
We enjoyed a yummy lunch at the Ship Inn after a delightful time on the nearby beach. My brother & I paddled in the sea & we all enjoyed watching people & dogs playing, swimming, sunbathing and walking along the coast.
Personally, I was pleased to find that the Ship Inn is dog friendly. As I haven't any myself, I love to pet others' when I see them.
Lovely setting in the small square with amazing views out to sea & surrounding landscape.
Excellent selection of the beer pub's own brewed beers.
Off the normal routes but worth a visit - particularly if you like a Pint of Cask.
Absolutely beautiful setting to enjoy delicious locally sourced food. We were a party of four, we had a cheese toastie, kipper pate with sourdough, kippers and the crab stottie, all absolutely wonderful. Can also recommend the house pilsner and autumn red ale. But of a queue for service but that's to be expected when a small place is accommodating so many people and the staff are all so lovely and helpful. Not our first visit and won't be our last.
Nice pub on the shores of the Northumberland coast. Great to call in when passing, the bar is only a couple of meters and they have 2 rooms and plenty tables and outside seating when it's busy, but you'll be open to the elements.
They serve local beer which is great and I had some fruit cake which was lovely and moist
A little gem, great crab salad and sandwiches. Staff are very pleasant despite being constantly run off their feet! Lovely beach is very close and wasn't busy on a warm day. Typically great Northumberland spot.
Been here twice, both times without food, and during the day. This is a busy little pub in a lovely spot, just off a magnificent bay. It attracts lot of people so you often can only sit outside. Beer is fine and brewed there. Think the menu is limited, but that is down to limitations of their size and location. Food looked fresh. Parking is a mile away. But still it brings in the crowds.
Brilliant microbrew gastropub. The best bear I've tasted in Northumberland. Well worth finding for coast path walkers. Didn't eat but what I saw looked good.
A very cute and interesting pub with lovely food. Great crab sandwiches and roast potatoes. Got a corner table and very comfortable.
We called in today for lunch (along with hundreds of others) and it was superb. It’s easy to see why it’s so popular as the food is great, freshly prepared and service is great too. Unseasonably good weather helped too as we sat outside in glorious weather eating our crab sandwiches with the locally brewed lager. Dog friendly too. Will definitely call back.
