Wow... honestly one of the best places to visit in South Devon ... romantic setting... really makes you appreciate the place we come from ...food is too die for... Beautifully fresh...service top rated .. and lovely wine and beer selections .. toliets are always immaculate and very cute ...the whole place has a very unique and rustic but classy vibe ... beautiful estuary views ...lovely watching the sunset 😍
Visited for a 1230 Saturday birthday lunch . All booked online and window seat waiting as requested when we arrived. Staff were fab, food and drink amazing…. Esp lovely to have flavoured tonic on draft and views to die for. Will definitely be returning many thanks
Great as always!!!
We regularly visit Coombe Cellars - always amazing food and atmosphere.
All staff are welcoming and friendly. Our waitress this evening, Amber, was second to none!
Very friendly 😊
beautiful scenery from this pub! good food and lovely service. vegan options aren't the most exciting (particularly the mains, nothing special there) but they were decent - hummus/falafel starter and the apple crumble for dessert! told them it was my birthday and they went out of their way to make it a special evening :)
Great place to have a drink outside on the estaury. Driving there is a bit tight on these roads. Food is very nice but not a lot of choice for gluten-free. Free parking. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Loverly place in summer.
What a night !
Simply this is some of the best food I've had! I would highly recommend the Pork and scallops, They were simply to die for!
The staff were friendly and attentive throughout our entire meal and they put us on a table with beautiful view over looking the waters.
Very quiet evening probably due to the weather, which made the atmosphere less cosy. The food generally was pretty good in our party of 4, but my sea bass fillets were unfortunately over cooked & rather dry. Service was friendly & efficient. We will return as we've been many times before & normally have no complaints at all. The view is lovely in daylight.
What a fantastic venue, Beautiful food and service was on point
Particularly Abby who was the most fabulous host and offered such a warm customer experience.
Will certainly be back
Although I only live round the corner from this place, I haven't been here in years.
I will be visiting regularly from now on. Amazing food, I would highly recommend the truffle fries, I wish I double ordered some of them.
The views are immense too, especially on a sunny day with the tide out.
Would highly recommend.
Fantastic evening all round. Plenty of easy parking. Disabled access. Wonderful location that has picture windows at what feels like water level (tide was in when I visited). Well stocked bar with courteous and pleasant barstaff. Waitress was superb, just enough light chat to be engaging but not too much (AND at no time did she say "enjoy" as she was walking away) and was smart and polite.
Food was excellent. We (party of 6) we're awful on that every starter looked so nice, we were swapping tiny bites of each one. Wonderful. Great presentation that enhanced the platter rather than the presentation being the sole reason for its existence. Anyway, on to the main courses. Again, all delivered in good time by a polite young fellow, who checked everything was in order before leaving us and offered us a carafe of water without being asked.
Six superb mains. Fish, chicken, cheese, duck and a burger. All excellently cooked. My fish (huge piece) was crisp from end to end and from top to bottom. No soggy bottom. Wonderfully cooked.
So good was the starter and main course, none of us could manage a dessert. We'll save that for another time (as there surely will be one). A superb evening, in a lovely environment, not crowded, no pressure with great food and good service. It's what I am told people work all week for!
Totally recommended
Called in recently (17/7/22) for a coffee around midday on Sunday. It was lovely to be spoken to by a pleasant and very helpful polite member of the bar staff who offered me a gratis carafe of iced water to go along with the coffee. It is remarkable how far a simply pleasantry will go. It was hot, she had every reason to be grumpy, but polite and smiling she was. Anyway, coffee was lovely, Iced water was priceless (having had it I would paid handsomely for it), location is just serenity with an open space. If you've never been here before, make this a priority. I'll be surprised if you are disappointed.
27/5/23. Just superb. Arrived early and took advantage of the quiet and relaxed atmosphere in the bar. Were seated quickly an efficiently. Starters were wonderful (we had the mushrooms and the chipotle chicken) with a wide selection.
Main courses to sit every taste and desserts menu is always great. Views are comparable with anywhere in the world. Sunset made a wonderful evening complete.
I really doubt you'll be disappointed with a visit here. Staff polite efficient and non intrusive, always willing to engage with clients. Furniture comfortable and nothing seems to be too much trouble.
Is it my age or do others find it strange that there appears to a growing trend for wearing SHORTS to a refined restaurant? That's the trouble I find with places that are so good at what they do. Almost everyone thinks that can visit, regardless of any standards. It didnt spoil a thing, am just saying!
Lovely place, food was fantastic as always and the staff were lovely throughout. Dog friendly in the bar also. Can get a bit pricey but you can tell it's quality food
Fantastic location overlooking the River. Food equally as good. Service is great and attentive. Been there 4 times recently and will definitely return.
What a great location, overlooking the estuary. The food is first class and the service is attentive and friendly.
Excellent food. Varied menu and not too expensive. Lovely views over the river Teign.
Lovely atmosphere with fantastic scenery. Lots of parking available and a great choice of menu and dishes. The food was outstanding and the service was great. We were on holiday and had been recommended to pay a visit. We weren't disappointed.
Had a lovely evening on Friday night at Coombe Cellars. I must admit that the food service was a bit slow from the kitchen, but it was saved by the wonderful service provided by Amber. She was attentive and chatty without being intrusive. There was a lovely atmosphere, views were beautiful (even in the dark), and when the food did arrive it was delicious, especially the belly pork! Thanks Amber and The Coombe Cellars, we will be back soon.
