This was my first time I bought from this place and I was pleasantly surprised! Great staff, quick and efficient service. I joined long queue however it was moving fast. They provide fantastic packaging and the food is THE BEST EVER. I don't think I had better fish.
Very nice fish the chips was not outstanding we was the only two people in the diner and the chairs on other tables was still up on the other tables.
Was not asked if we was satisfied only after we went to pay
Quick friendly service and good portion sizes. Lovely fish but the chips were more on the small and crispy side, than chunky (like I prefer). All-in-all really tasty and would happily go again!
Really really tasty fish and chips ever in the UK. The fish with light butter make it very crispy even better than before.
When I heard Chippies Plaice had new owners I was a bit concerned... However visited today and although the service needs to be a little 'streamlined', the fish and chips was exceptional. Freshly fried cod was beautifully cooked, very white and thin crisp batter. Chips were golden and tasty, and not too greasy. Overall I was very pleasantly surprised that the new owners have been able to maintain my high expectations! Cooking excellent, service good, just needs a tiny tweaking.
Everytime we get fish and chips from here it's always brilliant quality and beautifully cooked. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. Wouldn't go anywhere else for our weekly treat.
We wanted fish n chips and decided to give this chippy a try as so many people raved about it. I was quickly and efficiently served and the quality of the fish and potatoes was superb. Light batter, not greasy, Beautifully cooked. Thank you. We'll be back!

Great chips, been going there for years. Got some chips and the veggie burger and curry sauce as I was told they were vegan friendly, the veggie burger was good but looks like it was bound with egg, the curry sauce was very good! They did not take card, which was disappointing considering the current pandemic, but there's a cashpoint around the corner which is pretty convenient.

I can honestly say I spend too much in Chippies Plaice... I just can't help myself though, their food is absolutely incredible. I was first suggested Chippies Plaice by my partner who always gets there chips from them. I definitely had to check them out. The staff are all so bubbly, lovely, happy and smiley with you. Always a service with a smile, which is lovely after a long day at work (comfort eating, that's why I buy so much!). The chips are perfect, cooked beautifully, always gets the salt and vinegar right. I always myself have to get there curry sauce (and I recommend it highly), it's that perfect consistency, goes perfect with the chips. The fish is beautiful, I have tried a few more of their food items on the menu and all so good. Very generous portions, definitely will leave you full. The prices are very good too, good sized meal for at least £8! They have a little sit in area that you can have your food in the shop, never used it myself but it looks great. It has to be said that Chippies Plaice is possibly my favourite chip shop in Newton for sure! Highly recommended!

We have been going to Chippies Plaice for a good few years, but when Covid hit us things changed and we couldn't go and eat our lunch inside, we really wish they would do take aways as then we could have our beautiful fish and chips at home.
But anyway I want to say to everyone that these really are the best fish n chips in Devon. We used to live in Teignmouth and always made the trip here, but now we have moved to NA so hopefully will be back eating our favourite meal soon.
The BATTER used is absolutely the best batter in the world. Thank you Chippies. X
Always quick and efficient, lovely family run business and the food is always wonderfully fresh and hot! Nothing is too much bother for them! We are quite regular customers and it would be a difficult decision for us to go somewhere else in Newton Abbot for fish and chips!
I've known Carl and his wife the owners for many years. All that needs to be said about Chippies Plaice is that since around 2009, I have always had perfect customer service, with the very best meals always.
