WOW! The best fish I've had! the staff were great, food was super lush! we went 3 times in a week! great place for lunch & dinner
Best fish and chips I have ever had, a little more costly than I would normally but wow, filling portion great tasty batter stunning chips and tasty curry sauce.
So impressed. Perfect type of restaurant for the location. It wasn’t busy so understand it might not be the same experience in the height of summer but we couldn’t fault it. Staff were helpful, attentive and knowledgeable. The food was excellent. My husband has a gluten allergy and most dishes were or could be made gluten free, a first for him. Great concept that seems to work very well.
Best fish and chips by far
So glad we had our lunch here today
Defo recommend you drop by for a bite to eat
Amazing fish and chips! Six of us ate here - we all loved it (from teenagers to my Dad and Mum in their eighties). Great views, easy parking, delicious food. Highly recommend this.
Had the mussels and mackerel starter then the chilli fish burger and fish taco followed by Mississippi mud pie...fantastic! Food and service was great and the main meals cost less than it would to buy fish and chips in the sea front anywhere else ive been in Cornwall.
Fantastic views as well!!
After a stroll on the beach this place is just what you need. Great food, very relaxed for being a restaurant and the staff are lovely! Really enjoyed it and we will be back.
Great and speedy service for food and drinks. Spent over 3hours sitting on they terrace not rushed at all. All staff very friendly and helpful.
Possibly the best tasting fish I have had from a chip shop - gorgeous!
First time in Newquay and a warm welcome at Rick Stein’s Fistral...
Was fortunate to be the first to try the new pulled beef burger.... amazing taste...
Kids really enjoyed their cod bites as well...
4 times I’ve eaten here this week with my children and have to say the pad Thai was amazing!! The fish and chips too. Such a lovely setting on the beach with the sun and surf!! What more could you ask for!!! Until next time Rick steins Newquay!!! We will be back for more!!! Thankyou .
Always been a bit anti to the bloke. 'Buying up Cornwall type' But I got to hand it to him. A lovely restaurant with a lovely view of Fistral, not fussy, take the dog or the wife or both for a walk on the beach then pop in twixt 11am and 8pm for Vintage fish and chips ( £4.95 for over 60's at the mo) £9 45 if you're younger. Give it a try!
Fish cooked perfectly but chips were only warm and over cooked. Fantastic view and lovely staff. Very swift clearing of tables and sweeping up sand that people brought in after walking on the beach
Fantastic setting, we appreciated that dogs are welcome inside too. Enjoyed the food as we always do at a Rick Stein establishment with great friendly service.
Loved the friendly, relaxed atmosphere. We ordered curries which were absolutely delicious and 2 starters, 2 curries, popadoms, chapatis, 2 colas, 2 desserts and 2 lattes all for around £40 -great value for money. Went back the next morning and sat outside in the sunshine with bacon rolls and coffee;again great value for money.Staff couldn't have been more welcoming on both occasions.
Oh, let me tell you about my unforgettable experience at Rick Stein's restaurant, where I indulged in their heavenly cod fish and chips! Each bite was an explosion of flavors, a symphony of perfectly cooked fish, encased in the crispiest and most delightful golden batter. I swear, I could hear angels singing with every mouthwatering taste.
The ambiance of the restaurant was simply divine! As soon as I stepped inside, I was enveloped in a warm and welcoming atmosphere that instantly put me at ease. The calm and soothing ambiance added an extra layer of enjoyment to the meal, making it a truly unforgettable dining experience.
In summary, Rick Stein's cod fish and chips is a culinary masterpiece that will transport your taste buds to a realm of pure bliss. The flavors are unrivaled, and the restaurant's serene ambiance sets the perfect stage for an extraordinary dining journey. Without a doubt, this is a culinary gem that you absolutely must savor if you're looking for an exceptional dining experience.
Lovely informal place to eat. Nice choices on menu and food was beautiful. The front of house team are fantastic, very attentive and super-friendly. Brought my dog a bowl of water immediately upon our arrival.
We'll definitely be back.
It's a pleasant restaurant with a great beach view. A pet friendly restaurant. The staff are amazing. The food is great. We tried the chicken and fish curries. It was delicious.
Decent fish and chips, I tried the Goan fish curry last night, was very nice however the chapati which was an additional £2.50 was hard. I do think it’s steep to have to pay a surplus of £2+ for a portion of tartare sauce, these little extra charges quickly add up which can make meals lack value for money.
We did enjoy our meals but I will just avoid agreeing to extras as waitress implied these were FOC sides. She didn’t say they were free but she kept asking “and would you like this with pitta bread, chapati or bread” same with fish it was very much “and would you like that with the onion rings or the garlic bread?” so we just fell for it.Because of this our bill exceeded £100 easily, pretty steep for standard fish and chips. So yeah be careful haha - but whining aside still enjoyed the main meal. Don’t order the breads!
Popped in for lunch as they were opening. There were a couple of dishes off menu, but luckily none which we wanted. We ordered the haddock & chips and the grilled hake & chips. Both were delicious and the portions were huge. Service was a little slow but serving staff were very friendly.
Good food, but very pricy. It didnt really taste any different from a local fish and chip shop. Friendly staff, and lovely location. Shame about the horrible weather we had.
Fabulous experience eating at Rick Stein today. Cod and chips cooked to perfection, Rick's own recipe tartare sauce, devine. Highly recommended for that holiday treat.
Good location and very friendly and welcoming staff. Lovely chips but we found the onion rings extremely greasy and tasteless I wasn't a huge fan of the curry sauce either as it wasn't anywhere as punchy as I would have thought it would have been. I had the halloumi burger which was good and my partner enjoyed the lemon sole which there was a healthy portion of. They are also dog friendly which was great for us to be able to enjoy a meal while our pooch rested on the floor.
Stunning food stunning views best fish and chips I’ve had
Food and service are okay, but the place is quite busy. Fortunately we are able to get a table quickly.
Amazing staff, thank you Myles, Macy, Chris and all who made the experience so enjoyable. Re-made our drinks after spilling accident at no extra cost and was offered, rather than requested. Fantastic service. Food lovely, prawns fresh and salmon cooked just perfectly. Myles explained the local drinks, very helpful and friendly. Especially compassionate to disabled customer and having that chilled glass of wine with that gorgeous view was the high point. Excellent work, keep it up and thank you kindly x
Great service, a female chef took our order to help the service tonight as we seen they looked understaffed she was very attentive and brought our drinks and food also! Super woman! The girl and manager was super friendly on the front The manager was full of smiles even though it was hectic My dad was loving her tattoo and in conversation it turned out she was very local to us the food was absolutely delicious we sampled each others dish and we will 100% be back again
I was sceptical of this place, until my food arrived!
Absolutely beautiful food, I have not tasted Fish an Chips quite like it and that’s seriously!!! No grease just great food worth every Penny in my opinion (as it’s fairly expensive) the views are incredible across Fistral beach.
Staff also super friendly and helpful.
We shall be back
