I walked here with my friend, who was having his theory test in a couple hours. We aren't Newportonian. Rather, we're Cardiffian-Asians.
Right, the upstairs seating area has air conditioning; it's ice cold. -And stuck on, according to one of the staff members.
I see that as a benefit. Walking to this McDonald's; you tend to get quite hot, so air conditioning is an excellent way to cool off, in preparation for a feast.
But, back to the point. Speaking of staff, the friendly staff like to chat, which is nice if you're extroverted.
I replied to an employee who delivered my relatively large order, up the two flights of stairs; he apologized for the wait, to which I told him that I wouldn't blame him, especially with all those stairs. He told me that it's exhausting. After that, I think just I made a new friend. Too bad I'm not local to Newport.
I should've tipped the guy...
Back to the topic at hand. The food was great, probably one of the best McDonald's I've had in years, which makes me wonder why Americans seem to despise their own McDonald's restaurants. Perhaps this Newport McDonald's is just a shining example of fast food in the west!
So, if you're a Cardiffian, with a friend who has a theory test booked in at Newport's Clarence House ('cause Limerick House is all booked up), and you're hungry, why not spend the next hour with a nice 20 piece set of chicken nuggets, in a nicely air conditioned, clean environment?
If you're not afraid of multi-storey car parks, instead of spending your nights driving to service station McDonald's restaurants, why not go to this McDonald's instead, and park your pride and joy at the Clarence House multi-storey? It's only £2 for 3 hours!

I got my take aways twice during my stay in Newport ,last summer ! McPlant vegan burgers were so~good !! 👍👍I got addicted to it ,so repeated 2 more times in Cardiff & also London !! Lol. I had it w/ raw cucumbers 🥒. It was very clean & saved my days( nights ) as I got back from Saundersfoot late at night .( ot was supposedly a direct train,but I had to get off in Cardiff ,then waited for another train to Newport. )And another time ,from Devon ! There weren't many opened late at night near my hotel after checking in at hotels ! I walked about 10 to 15 minutes to this McDonald's from my hotel. I totally felt safe both ways ! Like the locals told me ,it was totally safe despite the reputations & reviews on TripAdvisor site ,so on !! Just avoid areas like Pill at night & further beyond the university accommodation there !! I learned it from the locals advices ! I highly recommend the Mc Plant vegan ( they do have both vegetarian & vegan burgers 🍔😋) burgers !!! Ordering was easy ,too ! I wish if they had it over here in Los Angeles, too !!
Long standing establishment, can't fault the service or food. Ice cream machine seems to never have an issue.. can't knock that, can you? 🙂 You do get the odd one or two kids who think it's their personal hang out, but that's to be expected around town..
Typical McD outlet, located at the Newport city centre. Well maintained, quick service and amazing food.
My usual pick: Wrap of the day for £1.99 (different on different days of the week - Chicken & Bacon wrap, Sriracha Chicken wrap, Chicken mayo wrap, Chilly chicken wrap- all in Grilled & Crispy variants). The wraps of the day at McDonald’s is far better than the wraps of the day at KFC (priced almost the same at 1.98£, as the latter is too salty and bland. The McDonalds wrap is filled with green vegetables, has a good quality of meat - and is very filling.

Kids runn8ng and messing around then m3ss8ng about outsid3 and there were large gangs.
Staff at this McDonald's were so helpful and polite.

Went for a coffee this am. Had the flat white it was quite yuck. But I needed the caffeine. Haven't been in there for ages.
This guy who works there should get a nice Christmas bonus for being nice to kids! BLESS HIM!😇

Handy for a quick bite to eat before watching the Newport County game. Staff were friendly and the food was fine. Surfaces were clean.
