Very good place very underrated on Google by people who expected 5 star service from a local pub. By the way the food is very tasty, the place is open all day all week when other restaurants are closed. Here lives welsh soul of Newport people, you can hear Welsh language and taste Welsh food. The s
Was in the local area looking at the Burial Chambers. Went into Newport looking for somewhere to eat.( Monday lunchtime) Royal Oak had a board outside "food served all day". Once inside was informed smaller menu, lighter lunch meals. I ordered the whitebait, c/w salad, coleslaw, bread and butter, w
I chanced upon this lovely little place after getting incredibly wet on my motorbike tour of Wales. I was in need of a friendly face, great service, great coffee and great food and I got all four. The lady behind the bar was very welcoming and helpful. The coffee was great and the food was amazing!
We visited today for a Sunday lunch, it was very busy but we were quickly shown a table. We ordered & paid for our drinks and meals & waited.....& waited. There was no indication from the staff of how long the waiting time was.... However when our meals arrived they were lovely, we decided to order
We ate here on Thursday evening and despite a little wait for the food, due to them being very busy, it was well worth it, delicious food, proper plate fulls, great portion sizes. 2 x adults and 2 x children very well fed. 👍 Definitely recommend.
Happened upon this pub while travelling, serving food all day; simple menu, really nicely served and presented, very tasty. Family friendly, our two littles were very happy and shared an adults jacket potato and beans. Without asking they brought out two little bowls and spoons. High chair was actua

Lovely atmosphere in a superb Village pub, Sunday Lunch was served right on time by great staff, at an extremely pocket appreciative cost. Will definitely be revisiting sometime soon. The food was excellent in quality, plentiful in amount and pipping hot, a great experience.
It’s the second time visiting this pub. Lovely place and good selection of drink and food. For us though it’s Alison who works there had us coming back. She’s definitely an asset to the pub and great company ❤️
Last resort on a late evening. So pleased with the proprietor, who was so welcoming and checked with the chef as to whether it was too late. We did not feel hurried, and the food was great.
Just had a takeaway curry from here - really tasty and generous portions. The chicken and mushroom balti was spicy enough to keep me happy and the king prawn korma was not the normal saccharine goop, but really well flavoured and full of juicy prawns. Very pleasant girl behind the bar. If they let d
