2nd time eating here and definitely a hidden gem in Newcastle fish and chips were lovely and steak sandwich was great too!!! The home made chips were the nicest iv had in a long time!!! Portions are huge and even an my 8 month pregnant appetite couldn’t finish it all!!! Definitely recommend

Food is 10/10, service is brilliant with all staff giving it their all! Best spot in town for a drink and burger night on Fridays is a big one to miss!

Great dinner in Brunel's restaurant followed by the best cocktails ever downstairs in the Anchor bar with my sister Saturday night! Great friendly and efficient staff and lively funky music in the cocktail bar then we enjoyed the live band inside. We planned to go elsewhere but ended up staying as we were having such a great night at the Anchor.

Had lunch today in bar,tomato and chilli soup was top notch followed by roast beef dinner cooked to your liking.Would highly recommend.

Good spot fr a few, first barman threw us out a half pint of their special ale of the week on the house and second barman volunteered to drive me to caravan to collect bank card!!
We were here for a beer. I hope it will be open soon. This bar had nice atmosphere, we enjoyed our visit here.
Incredible vegan menu, the banana blossom "fish" & chips and the cauliflower wings were both 10/10. So many other delicious sounding options, we'll be back soon to try them all! The perfect location after walking up Slieve Donard too.

Very nice local Pub! The selection of drinks is good, from the regular to the local produced. The food is also good and the staff is very friendly. There is always quiz Thursday nights, live music Fridays and Saturdays and a lot of other activities throughout the week. Is worth to keep an eye on facebook about their programs.
Great bar I have to visit every time I’m down home. Have had many a great night there.
The bar is constantly experimenting with new drinks, entertainment, events and whatnot. And it’s great to see it bursting at the seams on a weekend night.
There’s music every week in the front bar and on special nights the hide away the pool tables out back and have event on there.
Not to my liking but there’s also a cocktail bar out in the beer garden.
Ive been a few times now and i have to say, there must be something in the Guinness because these people know how to have a good time. The bar is buzzing...the lounge(s) are buzzing...out the back is buzzing. They sing, they dance, they love the craic....young and old enjoy the atmosphere equally. How refreshing. The hidden jem of Newcastle....go seek it out.
Pub was recommended to us by our B&B, we arrived about half 5 and thought we were too early for food but they were actually stopping serving at 6pm. They squeezed us in and we’re so glad we stayed - best hot wings we’ve had outside of the USA and an amazing steak sandwich (I can see why they call it famous!) with a proper sauce to die for, plus my partner had a really good burger. Definitely worth a stop if you’re looking for good pub grub 👍
Beautiful food and great price. Portions are massive. Great home cooked food. 1st time there but will be a regular now on our trips to Newcastle. Kids eat free which was an added bonus.

Great nights out with live music, poker and flawless pool tables. A traditional Irish bar design with a large enclosed beer garden out the back. Outstanding service with a smile from an enthusiastic staff and well trained. Food is top quality I would fully recommend the fish & chips.
On a recent trip from Dublin, 8 of us stayed in Newcastle and went to the Anchor Bar on both nights. I don't think I have been more welcome in a bar in Ireland than when we arrived in. We brought our musical instruments and got to join in with the group playing on stage. A great atmosphere, a packed pub and some incredible staff had made both our nights superb. We will be back in the coming weeks no doubt.
Always a great atmosphere here. Great staff and service. Pool Room could do with a bit more Heat though. But all in all, good place 👍
My wife and I was in for dinner for my birthday all the girls that was working could not do enough and when all every friendly its be a few years from I was in the bar. And all way say we should go in for something to eat we will be back for eating again and maybe a few drinks in one of there bar garden
Tried the Anchor for the first tine. Was pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious. The staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. Would recommended this Bar. It was very tuned into Covid which we liked

Such an awesome find! The bartender Rob has done such a fantastic job on his spirit selection. Loved every minute we spend there visiting chatting and drinking. Highly recommend.
