Quite quiet as we were there through the day on a Saturday. Good selection of drinks and plenty seats. Music on but not loud so you couldn't hear the group chatting. Nice enough place.
One of my favourite bars in town. Great atmosphere and have the best bands on in Newcastle. Music always played nice and loud.
The star in is a no nonsense pub with real people who enjoy metal and rock music at the weekend. The beer is reasonably priced and the bar staff are very welcoming. You'll find ac/dc, thin lizzy, bands etc as well as ska and punk. It's one of the few remaining real bars in the city centre. 👍
We only go on a Friday night. The Star is, just about, the only venue is Newcastle to have live rock bands every weekend. With cheap beer and super efficient staff it makes for a proper night out - if you like rock music.
Excellent pub, great atmosphere, lovely helpful bar staff and reasonably priced drinks, thanks for a great night.
Been drinking here for years and the place has gone under several transformations.
The Star was always a bit of a dive but has recently been given a much needed makeover and is all the better for it.
Good range of drinks at very good prices and live music at the weekends.

A great bar , low priced beers too atmosphere terrific a live band was on when I was in on Saturday evening a great sound and night was had by all will deffo be back soon
Fantastic place to be every weekend I go there on a Saturday ..... Am sure the new owners will fit in one day...I miss jess and her fantastic family especially jess....
What a place, live music & brown ale too. What a good mix. Proper traditional North East boozer, don't miss it out if you drink in the town.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent for live music on weekends. Best pint in Newcastle after visiting seven pubs. Will return very soon
Free live music, great atmosphere, friendly locals. Great if you like rock music. Opposite Newcastle 02 Academy. Will definitely be back!
