Yesterday I visited the Jingling gate for Lunch with 2 of my friends, and i have to say it's been a long time since I received service as good as what I did yesterday. The food was served piping hot and was fresh and flavoursome. The burgers were cooked right through and juicy, the mac and cheese was lovely and in a fresh cheese sauce. The portions were very generous for the price paid. Big thankyou to the waiting staff because although the restaurant was busy they continued to work professionally and efficiency!
As for the atmosphere, I couldn't fault it was joyful nice seeing other customers enjoying their meals and staff working together without tension. We finished our meal with a oreo cheesecake, a chocolate fudge cake and a crumble and they were all delicious! I will definitely be visiting again! I wish I could rate more than 5 ☆ Many thanks :)
Visited yesterday and have to say we waited far too long for a tea and a coffee my partner had nearly finished his pint by the time we got our tea and coffee.but on the plus side the staff were nice
Our yearly Christmas meal with family yesterday . As usual an excellent meal , friendly and helpful staff . Very enjoyable .
Great pub with a lovely atmosphere, good food and friendly staff
Great locl pub, fabulous menu good for lunchtimes and evening. Large bar and lovely outdoor area for the summer sun, nice atmosphear.
Nice country looking pub that's a local. Big car park, plenty of sport and a nice crowd. Good food and beer kids welcome till 9. good staff, wide choice of beers and offers on food and wine. Well worth a visit.
Beautiful afternoon tea, £15 per person, copious amounts of strong tea, fresh sandwiches, worth every penny. Isobel the waitress that served us was friendly and helpful
We had a lovely time at The Jingling Gate where we went for a meal. The atmosphere was nice and chilled, the food was delicious and the lady who waited in us was so nice and friendly.
Like it. Good atmosphere. Food is typical pub grub menu but is nice. Decent pint and friendly staff. No complaints at all.
Great experience. Lovely service by Lisa and other staff.
Amazing pies
A delicious meal. I had the chicken schnitzel, picture posted. I highly recommend.
Good pub grub. Price is decent. We had a bit of a wait for the food. But the atmosphere was good and the staff were friendly. I had the pie. Wife had all day brunch. They have pensioner and kid deals too. I come back home from abroad every few years and always come here with the oldies.
We went on Thursday night for food and the quiz, great atmosphere and a good quiz and the best Gammon I've had for a while, they have a good collection of guest ales.
We were shocked when we got the bill, the entire family meal cost the same as a recent meal at McDonald's, we expected it to be much more.
We were served by Katie she was very pleasant and efficient.
Highly recommended.
We all went for tea (family of 4), each member had a different meal, all 3 courses were fabulous. All plates clean 😁 food 5 star and the staff 5 stars also. The staff were very attentive, James and Natalie went above and beyond. Thank you for our pleasant evening, can't wait to come back..
Been a while since I was at the Jingling Gate, but last night (Saturday night) we sat down to a booked table for five at 6.30pm. I think it's a Greene King pub, but this is probably the best one of that pub chain I've been to for food and atmosphere.
We found the food was very good/excellent. If your meal comes with chips and want to go healthier, it's worth adding a side or two of vegetables, as they were were good quality and fresh not frozen. We had Hunters Chicken, Gammon steak, Sirloin steak, a rustic chicken and pulled ham pie, and Scampi for mains, just the one starter, a couple of puds, a coffee and chocolate toffee shortbread, three double gins three pints of coke and a blackcurrant and soda came to roughly £120.
It's good value with some dishes available on a two for offer from £14.99, but you can push the boat out if you want.
The table service (which is always an unexpected treat in a pub) was prompt, attentive and Katie our server was also really friendly, and enthusiastic about the pub and it's activities. She's a credit to the Jingling Gate and did a great job!
We'd been to the Theatre in Sunderland in the afternoon but chose to eat closer to home. It was a good decision!
We left about 8.30pm and the place was absolutely buzzing. There was a band due to start which seems to be pretty regular on Saturday nights and I would have liked to stay for that, but the dogs at home meant we couldn't.
One final note, they also respect the blue light discount for NHS etc...
Really nice friendly pub, lovely food and alot of different drinks to choose from. The Hunters chicken dish and the beef and ale pie were delicious! Special thanks to Isabel the waitress for going above and beyond. Absolutely lovely staff! Will definitely visit again.
