Great establishment; decor and style is tasteful and well arranged, the guys on the bar were courteous, friendly and knowledgeable and they put together some great tasing cocktails from our personal tastes and preferences. I’d certainly come back and recommend it to anyone who likes to have their tastebuds tantalised!
Awesome Awesome Awesome From the moment we arrived to the time that we left we were treated fantastically. The food was fantastic, choice of drinks was amazing and our waiter was the best - he even bought me an extra spoon so I could help eat my boyfriend's dessert. The whole pub is quirky and there is always something new to look at. The toilets and outside space were probably my favourite places. Too many pubs/restaurants forget the attention to details not Colonel Poters - I loved it ALL !!!! and will be back soon without the car to sample at least 10% your Rum

Fab on all counts. A real hidden gem. Staff are very helpful and friendly and the vibe of the place is outstanding
Saturday 16th booked for 10 people and 1 baby. Excellent service, friendly staff, great menu, reasonable prices and scrumptious food. A great find to celebrate a family Christmas. Thank you
Came here when we were holidaying in Newcastle and so glad we did. This is a very unique place with very interesting interior and the cocktails we ordered were strong and good value for money, the staff were all lovely and you even get complimentary popcorn and water which is a great touch. Would definitely return again when I'm next in Newcastle 😊🍸🍹 xxx
Loved this bar Quirky and stylish decor, love the wisterria. Staff very friendly and helpful, thanks to the barman for dragging the heavy stools for us!. Nice outside area , could do with more heaters, only 1 was working. Great drinks selection, prices in line with other bars. Really great music definitely worth a visit x
First time in here and definitely not the last. Had food which was lovely, nice atmosphere in the restaurant side and music with DJ in the bar side. Ended up spending the whole afternoon here. Love it. Nice staff too. Great place
Great atmosphere, good food, fun decor and brilliant staff. Organised for a hen party to come for tipsy afternoon tea last weekend and I couldn't have asked for more. Highly recommended!
our first visit was lastnight and we almost left because we couldn’t find a menu, as we were leaving the bouncer on the door queried our early depart and actually took us back in, got us a menu and found us a great seat, so pleased he asked us and if it wasn’t for him we wouldn’t of got to sample the amazing food 😉 we’ll be back oh and the deco is fab
One of the best kept secrets in Newcastle is Colonel Porters Emporium, we celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary there on Friday, along with 65 family and friends, all but none had not heard of this place but all loved it, so much so our niece is booking as a venue for her wedding reception next year. The staff could not have been more helpful, the food was great and plentiful, and the bar well stocked, we would both like to thank you all for making our day so special.

I stumbled upon this unique place tonight when I was with friends - thinking it was just another bar before I entered I was amazed by the interiors and feel of the place. I felt like I’d stepped into a sailor’s 1800’s vortex - I LOVED IT! Ordering a Spicy margarita and a Orange Margarita (Margarita Mondays) they were brilliant and so we later ordered a second drink (more margaritas!)
The bar wasn’t too busy with a chilled vibe about the place, with an attentive bar lady named Emma- was perfect for a casual Monday drink. Think I have found my new favourite bar! Affordable, good location, tasty and unique atmosphere 10/10.
Quirky place, lots to see on the walls, and hanging from the ceiling. Live music in the background and good deals on the cocktails 😁
Friendly staff and table service, for when your legs don't work properly after supping the cocktails!!
Had a great time there, and will be back tomorrow, to sample some other cocktails no doubt about it.
This might just be my new favourite place to visit.
What a cool bar!!! The interior decoration is gorgeous - so many interesting things to look at and amazing for anyone into the Victorian aesthetic. Super comfortable seating as well. And great drinks in my opinion! I got the Butterbeer Halloween cocktail which I thought was delicious. Caution if you don't like sweet drinks- my partner doesn't and we found that there literally wasn't a single thing on the menu that didn't have sugar syrup 😅 but if dessert cocktails are your thing (they are mine!) And if you don't like strong spirity-flavored drinks (I don't!), then you'll love this place
Update 21/11/23 weekends have become so fun here since live musics started. Dance floor is so much better here for the mint music and intimate settings. Tunes after acts are done are mint too. We were dancing till 1am I think! Hope Tim Gambles is brought back more, he's something special!
Brilliant open mic night here on Tuesdays. Lush staff and brilliant service. The pictures speak for themselves - the vibe here is excellent, quirky and interesting. Great playlist too. Think mid week evenings here will become a regular for me - felt so relaxed here. Recommend!
I had a wonderful time at Colonel Porter's Emporium, a 1920s-themed restaurant and bar on Dean Street.
The place is full of charm and character, with a botanical garden, a secret disco, a rhum and gin bar, and a tavern of wonders. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and the food and drinks were delicious.
I especially enjoyed the vintage cocktails and the lobster. The atmosphere was lively and fun, and I felt like I was transported to another era.
I would highly recommend Colonel Porter's Emporium to anyone looking for a unique and memorable experience in Newcastle.
Popped in for a couple of drinks on our way elsewhere for food. Our first time here after a few recommendations from friends. What a great quirky bar. We had a few cocktails at 2 for £12 and couldn't fault the place. Live music and great atmosphere. Definitely will be back.
We often come here on Saturday afternoons. Lovely bar, great cocktails and good service. Only thing that lets it down is the volume of the live music. It’s soooo loud, makes it very hard to talk to friends. Turn it down a bit and this place would be perfect.
Went out for a girly family day and started off in Colonel Porters based off a recommendation. It was a lovely atmosphere, the staff were really nice and the drinks were great quality. We are planning to come back for tipsy tea.
Lovely atmosphere with live music and great decor.
Apparently the cocktails are good, wouldn't know as wasn't allowed a try... 😒

Amazing bar, amazing atmosphere, harming back to the history of the British empire. Drinks are reasonably priced, and there is a good selection. There is regular live music which adds to the atmosphere. I highly recommend you stop off for a drink and a look around this fascinating venue.
