Located along the Tyne quayside heading out of the city towards Ouseburn, I stopped for a well earned cuppa whilst participating in the Shaun on the Tyne sculpture trail in August 2023.
The café is, as the name would suggest, geared up for the cyclists many of whom where meeting here to fuel up before, during, or after there ride outs. It was notable that many often stopped here and were known by name to staff.
The staff were helpful and friendly as were the lovely patrons, of whom some advised they were regulars not of the cycling kind. They serve hot and cold drinks, snacks, cakes, scones, hot and cold sandwiches.
There's also a cycle workshop onsite for all cycling maintenance needs. Seating is available indoors and outdoors, there's a convenient kiosk on the roadside for takeaway, a cycle ride through. Plenty of cycle racks and a pay car park. Toilets are located inside that were well kept and clean.
The views were definitely my cup of tea especially with the fishing fleet moored alongside. As luck would have it the worst of the days rain fell whilst having my Earl Grey, and I was able to don my waterproofs before venturing out again!
If you're in the vicinity do pop in and see what you think. I would have no hesitation going back.
An absolutely outstanding service from the cycle hub team at our recent fundraising event. The team were just brilliant, warm,, welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. I would have no hesitation in recommending this venue and we will be back. We didn't have food from the menu but everyone enjoyed the cakes. Thank you so much!
I've been here a few times. The food is very nice if you're not after a restaurant style meal. I highly recommend the bacon sarnie. Staff are great, and there's great views of the quayside from the outside seating. This is a very popular cyclist stop, which is also good for repairs during a bike ride
Starting out on our tour from Newcastle to Edinburgh I was having trouble with my panniers. The mechanic from the bike shop solved my problem for me and we were able to sit for a while and enjoy the great Cafe knowing that the rest of our trip would be trouble free. Newcastle is lucky to have such a welcoming spot to cycle out to.
First time visitor to The Cycle Club. Staff are lovely and friendly. Good variety of food and drinks. Outdoor seating some covered. The view of the Tyne down to The Baltic, Millennium Bridge and Tyne Bridge are amazing. Large car park and only 40p per hour. So we parked there for the day and wandered around the Quayside and Ouseburn Valley, The Cluny and The Cumberland Arms. Thoroughly recommended
A very nice cafe with great views down the Tyne, they have a good menu with choice of salads, sandwiches and sweets. We only had a chance for drinks, my Cappuccino was really nice although I wasn't sure why there was an extra charge, my good lady enjoyed her americano and the boy seemed to enjoy his sanpelagano blood orange.
You can hire bikes and it looks like they also did servicing too.
I have a confession....I can't ride a bike, no balance and at 59 I'm not that bothered. However I've always seen this place and wanted to come. Bit disappointed as hubby had set his heart on bacon sarnie and there were signs everywhere advertising them but staff said no bacon 🤥 Went for sausage sarnie instead with a cheese scone and 2 teas which cost about £11. Nice cafe inside but sat out as lovely morning and looked down the Tyne
Located right on the quayside. Excellent place to have a nice cup of your choice, a good selection of pastries, and a nice view of the River Tyne. Large parking lot right next to it.
A pleasant spot to stop off if cycling or walking along Newcastle Quayside. Friendly service, great cakes and nice sandwiches and light bites. Indoor and outdoor seating, and they don't mind if you want to use the loos without getting anything. You can also hire bikes here if you want to do a local day ride to Tynemouth or elsewhere.
At family funeral, place put on a hospitable venue for us. Would certainly visit again under different circs.
Went in here as we wanted a coffee and must say they are very nice not had food yet but will on the next visit here . Kids had hot chocolate said they were lovely.
We went for a walk along the river when we came across the cycle hub. We decided to stop for a drink and food and wasn't disappointed, we had a tuna melt which was delicious and the hot chocolate was amazing too! If your sitting outside you get the most amazing views of the river Tyne
