Great pub. One of the best in town. Eclectic mix of people and always has a good friendly vibe. Good selection of beers but I only drink lager which in my opinion is served perfectly! Food is excellent and good value for money. :)
Probably the best pub in the world, and I drink real beer not carlsberg
Absolutely amazing. Had a cheese platter which was devine real ales top notch too.
One of the best real ale pubs in NEWCASTLE great choice of ales, decent lagers and single malts .always busy and very nice staff
Great pub. Have a few their with the Mrs. Every time we visit Newcastle. Large variety of beer all good. Friendly staff. Great value for money.
One of the best city ale houses I've ever been in. All the staff have an excellent knowledge about their real ales, food is also excellent & the whole atmosphere of the bar is brill. Just a shame we only get to visit a couple of times a year.
Quite possibly one of the most underrated pubs in Newcastle. Not only do they have a great selection of drinks but the selection of finger food I've had was very good too. Always a nice atmosphere.
...always visit my favourite pub when I'm over in England and the variety of ales is first class as is the food the service the friendly atmosphere and the location ! Magnifico !
Slightly off the main street but definitely worth finding if you like a wide beer selection including quite a few cask. There's a broad mix of good quality craft breweries and the mainstream stuff as well to suit most. I didn't try the food on this visit but they sounded like good grazing sharing options for another time. Old school no fuss decor. If you are in the centre looking for a good quality beer in friendly surroundings, this will serve you well

Very good Newcastle pub near the Grey's Monument. 8 cask beers on handpump when I last visited including a dry roasted peanut stout! Lots of outdoor seating most of it covered.
Not too busy after the Spurs game at St James' Park.
The bar has a good range of drinks available, especially if you're into beers, as they offer quite a selection.
Be aware that prices are a bit on the higher side, similar to what you'd find around Grey Street. The crowd is generally pleasant and the staff are helpful. It's a nice spot for a quiet chat with friends, as it tends to avoid being too rowdy.
I came across this Venue by chance but Loved it. The decor is fantastic and they have a great selection of craft beer with over 30 taps and a decent selection of beers in fridges - one of the best I came across on my trip. I will definitely revisit in the future.
Fantastic place to meet up with friends, have a quiet drink to yourself or just start and finish a night out in a relaxed atmosphere. Charcuterie board is spot on too
Great bar and an old one at that. The staff here are amazing ..so polite and efficient.
And there's an outside sitting area which should be encouraged more as it reminds me of Germany or Holland, plus they have press the button heaters a god send in the winter here!
All in all a pub not to miss
Happy Christmas hopefully a white one
There’s always plenty of staff serving.
A small but quirky bar in Newcastle. Feels like it has lots of history but feels modern. We are in our late 30s/early 40s and we find there’s a range of ages here. Open late too.
Great real ale selection, didn't have any food so can't rate that aspect
Nice pub, obviously very popular every day of the week. Food was either cheese board or meat. I had the meat which was roast beef, ham, scotch egg, pickle etc. Very nice and good value too. Beer (real ale) good too.
I tend to go here every time I'm in Newcastle, good range of drinks and nice atmosphere. Last visit was marred by a friend having her bag stolen unfortunately.
