Lovely food at a very reasonable price, me and my daughter had lunch yesterday with drinks including a lager, for £12 and they where good sized portions I'll definitely be back

Tried the Sunday Roast Burrito yesterday and love it. Love Zapatista anyway and this one is my favourite because of the amazing comic strip walls downstairs. Love the chicken fajitas and the churros are lovely. Staff are always lovely too

Ate here yesterday, I've always loved Zapatistas since it first opened but I have noticed a slight decline in quality over the years. It's still delicious .... Just not as delicious. I ordered 3 tacos. 2 pork and one chicken with spicy beans, extra hot salsa (not that hot), sour cream and cheese. The pork tacos were great But the chicken tacos were so dry I nearly choked to death, in which I would have fell into an eternal slumber only dreaming of moister taco goodness. The young lad who served me was a nice enough dude but it would of been nice if the young lass got off her phone and attended to customer needs. Still though the foods decent and at 12 quid with a beer in Newcastle City centre it's a good deal x
The burrito was nice but as I never been here before it would have been very helpful if the staff makes you aware of what is included and what is not, and what you can add on as an extra. I felt like the lady who served me was a bit annoyed by me asking what i can have in etc. The guy was much friendlier. The tables were a bit messy and a bit annoying that you do not provide toothpicks. Now I have to walk around Newcastle with food stuck in my teeth. :p
A really lovely informal, great tasting mexican food. Recommend the butternut squash and halloumi burritos and dirty margaritas. Fantastic service and fun decor.
Very good idea to have a conveyer belt like system, where you choose your bread as a first step, your fillings on step 2, your salsa on step 3 and your drink on the final step. Hygiene was passable, service, brisk, and the food tasted 7/10.
Burrito bar on the style Chipotle or Tortilla. Great burritos which you can customize as you want. Good student deal for a burrito and drink - 6.8£. I just didn't like that you have to pay extra for peppers.
Absolutely love this place! I have been trying to find a place that offers great meal deals with reasonable prices and I think this place told the boxes. You get to customise your burritos or fajitas so really you can’t not like it haha, if you went for a meal it comes with fries and a drink 👍

Been to the Zapatista near Central Station many times for great burritos over the years. In the last year or so it's sometimes been understaffed and slow even at peak times, but the food is usually always tasty.

Coming from south-western United States where Mexican cuisine is a major part of our food culture, I have to say that Zapatista Burrito bar is exceptional in terms of food quality in comparison to home. I asked for the spicy sauce for my burrito, and I was stunned when the sauce actually met my expectation of hot. The food was delicious although a tad bland in the guacamole department and the use of Cheddar cheese threw me off. The burrito itself had all the same flavors similar to Cafe Rio or Chipotle and was pretty well put together. (I thought it was strange that they call the brown rice "red rice"). The atmosphere of the interior reminded me more of a Tex-Mex chain (Chipotle or Cafe Rio) rather than an authentic Mexican eatery, but it makes up for this in its taste. Prices are very high when compared to food of the same quality in the United States and Mexico, although I expected this as Mexican cuisine is still relatively new to this part of the world. I would come back here, and I do recommend to any travelers from the US to Newcastle who just might feel a little homesick.
Great choice of really fresh food. I was helped by a lovely girl called Courtney, as I wasn't au fait with the ordering process and choice of fillings. I wasn't disappointed. I wanted something hot (I haven't had a curry for a while) and chose Tacos with Chilli with the hot sauce. It was lovely, washed down with a San Miguel, outside in some long awaited sunshine 🌞 A great experience 😀

Very tasty and a lot of options to choose from to make it your way! Though mine was absolutely massive due to nearly having everything on it it was so filling alongside with some fries.
This was a great find after traveling over 10 hours from the US. Needed something different and this was it. Spicy squash was awesome in the bowl. The workers were helpful too!
Very good food and friendly staff. Similar food to a Chipotle or a Moe's. Lots of seating room on the lower level.
