With a beautiful atmosphere, friendly knowledgable service this place is hard to beat. A fantastic wine and beer list compliments food with interesting flavours. A twist on some traditional English fare. We have been once and can't wait to return.

Amazing place 1st class location and venue's. Equally matched by the staff and their service. They also host cooking classes in a purpose built teaching kitchen above the restaurant. This place is incredible and is definitely worth the money again and again.

So glad we finally visited ! This is easily in my top 3 restaurants! Service was impeccable, the staff are fantastic. Our server (Maria ... not 100% on name) was so knowledgeable and friendly. She picked out the perfect wine matches! The food was phenomenal, such good flavours and presentation. Good portions and very fresh. We had the set lunch menu and everything was delicious. We will certainly be back

Came here for a meal as part of an 18 man stag do. The dining hall was brilliantly laid out and the decor was right up our street. The service for us all was great and we couldn’t fault it, we were very well looked after. The absolute highlight was the food…wow! From starters to desserts there wasn’t a shred of food left on our plates. Highly recommend 👍🏻

We had an AMAZING night with our firm in this restaurant! The round table upstairs is one of the most unique settings I have ever in my life had dinner in. Our waiter Louie did an amazing job serving us and was also able to tell about the history of the building. Highly recommended!

Nice food in a fabulous old world style setting. Service was ok, nothing amazing but adequate. We were a large group and were meant to be in the banquet hall but ended up spread over two tables which wasn't ideal. If you want a historical or romantic feel then definitely recommend

We had the set menu at lunch time for our anniversary. The food was excellent and at a good price. The service was very attentive and the setting made the experience really special. I would definitely recommend.

Quality of food was amazing at a very reasonable price. Reason for 4 star rating is that they sting you on drinks prices. £40 for 3 glasses of wine. Service very good and lovely atmosphere

We joined the street food express cookery class today, the chef, Josh, was such fun. We made tortillas and then a gorgeous mexican chicken filling, then devoured 3 tacos each. We've come home with left overs, recipes and tonnes of great tips. I definitely recommend trying out the cooking or tasting sessions,. We will most certainly be back. Thanks Blackfriars 😀

Wonderful Sunday Lunch for Grandsons Birthday. Everything was perfect the location in a Historic Building dating from 1239 the Blackfriars Priory. The ambience, the carved wooden dining chairs, the huge wooden tables along with the professionalism of the staff at all levels made the day. The food was piping hot at table, and as we eat with our eyes firstly, the presentation made us all want to pause the conversation and enjoy. All the staff on the day made a wonderful dining experience we will be back for more of the same. Alan R.

This was our first visit to Blackfriars. We chose the set menu, this had many gluten-free options which gave me a lot of choice for all courses I was really pleased about this 🙂. We were celebrating my husband's birthday and there was even a birthday card on the table for him 🎉. We had a lovely couple of hours, everything was spot on the service, staff and food I would highly recommend a visit 😁

We had a late lunch/early dinner here on Christmas Eve to celebrate my birthday. The menu on offer was the Christmas menu, however, there were plenty of things to choose from. A slight niggle for me is when there are set menus but some courses require a supplement and it felt like there were quite a lot of them to keep the headline price down. That said, we did very much enjoy our meals. The food was well cooked and tasty and the inclusion of a glass of fizz, tea or coffee afterwards and a mince pie were a nice touch; as were the Christmas hats. Given that the restaurant was full, the service was very good and attentive. Our waiter; a Lithuanian guy whose name we didn't get was warm and friendly and he is a real credit to the restaurant. It's not the cheapest place in town, but it's a lovely setting with great food which I actually think makes it good value for what you get.

I went for a medieval banquet for my friend’s birthday and was really impressed! I’m vegan so I emailed ahead of time to ask about vegan options. I was told their vegan option was mushroom based and asked if they had any other options since I don’t like mushrooms. They said they would make me something else and they did! Everyone had a very thorough knowledge of what was and wasn’t vegan. They even had a vegan cheese plate for the cheese course and offered a mead alternative. I was really impressed with how well they listened and how seriously they took dietary requirements. On top of that I really enjoyed the food itself, although I will say that while you definitely do get bang for your buck, there is SO much food that a lot of it ended up going to waste. It would be nice to have a balance between making sure people feel like they are getting what they pay for without serving an amount of food that is impossible to eat. Overall, wonderful experience!

A lovely place for a special birthday, decent food which was well presented. Locally sourced ingredients and an extensive cellar of wine... apx £75 a head including a couple of glasses of wine. Visit slightly marred by absolutely foul(as in 100% his mother would be ashamed) language from adjacent table hey ho. In all a lovely evening
