Disclaimer is that these are old photos,I haven’t dined in this lovely place for months due to taking the food out but I rarely do that. I hope to dine in sometime again, the indian style noodles were absolutely fantastic along with the dumplings and soy sauce. It would definitely cost 40 pound or more if your with 3 people and your careful with what you order. Even if it’s pricey, the food is worth it. Plus the place is Halal.

We wanted some food after being at the Newcastle game, with the town being super busy and everyone piling out at the same time, we weren't sure we'd get in anywhere, passed Chilli Padi which I've been dying to try out for ages and I thought we'd see if they could fit the two of us in! They were very busy, with booking for eating in and takeaways, but within 10 minutes we had a seat, we'd been looking at the menu whole waiting so ordered pretty quick, we went for the Smoked Chicken (which was what I'd been wanting to try from reviews I'd seen), Sweet and sour chicken, soft noodles and salt and chilli chips. The amount of food was unreal, but it certainly wasn't quantity over quality because everything was super tasty, full of flavour and very quick coming out, the Smoked chicken was perfectly cooked and not too spicy, the sweet and sour was steaming hot and well, exactly what you'd want from a sweet and sour, the best I've had actually. The sides we'd ordered, the soft noodles, were great and I loved the fact there was plenty of veg in them, salt and chilli chips were also beautiful! We couldn't get through all of the food with it just being the two of us, but I didn't want to stop eating, we brought 4 cartons of food home which will be a very enjoyable lunch for the following day! The pricing for the amount of food is really good and actually for what we ordered, I think you could have fed a family of 4, cant wait to go back

I’ve been to Chilli Padi several times over the last couple of months since discovering this restaurant. The food is delicious, generous and promptly served after ordering, alongside this, it’s consistently yummy. The staff are lovely and it’s a relaxed atmosphere. A solid choice for a meal in the city centre.

I thoroughly enjoyed a Saturday lunch at Chilli Padi in central Newcastle upon Tyne. It's a simple but modern café-style place, a short walk from the football ground. Such decor suits me perfectly as visiting is all about the food; traditional Malaysian cuisine. Service was welcoming and efficient. I was tempted by the beef rendang but went for nasi goreng kampung, a classic Malaysian dish, plus sweet and sour chicken. The dishes were big on flavour and I look forward to returning to try a bowl of rendang.

I'm Malaysian and have tried so many Malaysian dishes all over the UK. I can guarantee you that they serve very good authentic Malaysian food here. Nasi lemak tastes so good with delicious sambal. I’ve been here more than 5 times now and the food is always spot on. They serve halal meat which makes it even better. The portion is big and value for your money. Always my go-to restaurant when in Newcastle. Make sure to book a table before coming over here if you don’t want to be on the waiting list.

Absolutely blown away by this gem. Wanting to try a different cuisine for my husbands birthday meal, and having heard only good reviews about Chilli Padi, we now had a good reason to venture into the city on a cold rainy night.. we were not disappointed. Right from the staff who were always smiling, down to the food, that made us smile it was a 5 star experience. We ordered a few dishes to try out spice ranging from mild to spicy - For starters we got the Salt & Chilli Enoki Mushrooms and Squid and the Tom Yum Seafood soup. The soup was delicious, overflowing with the flavours and just the right amount of lemongrass. For the main course we ordered Tofu Mee Goreng as my husband doesn't eat meat, Beef Rendang ( can't recommend this enough - it pairs really really well with the Roti Canai) Malaysian curry with Chicken legs, and the seafood Mee Goreng As my son doesn't eat very spicy good, we got him the Chicken Chow Mein. He rated is 5 stars and told the hostess this well. In his words" it was the best ever noodles 🍜. Overall I can say it amount we spent which was £130 for 5 people was very worth the price, I can't fault the quality of food and the quantity per dish was enough for 2 people to easily share. We even ordered 2 Mak-Cik cocktails. We will definitely be visiting again to try the other dishes. There is a parking lot almost opposite the restaurant so it was easy to get to.

Chilli Padi is a Malaysian restaurant that truly captures the essence of Malaysian cuisine, making it a haven for those seeking an authentic taste of home. The warm ambiance, coupled with tantalising aromas, transports diners to the vibrant streets of Malaysia. What sets Chilli Padi apart is its commitment to authenticity without compromising on portion sizes or prices. The Butter Chicken is a standout and equally impressive is the Penang Prawn Noodle, a flavourful journey through Malaysia's street food culture. Chilli Padi's dedication to maintaining the authenticity of each dish is evident, making it a go-to spot for homesick Malaysians and food enthusiasts alike. From generous portions to reasonable prices, every visit to Chilli Padi is a celebration of true Malaysian flavors. This restaurant has quickly become my top choice for a taste of Malaysia that never disappoints.

When we first arrived it was packed! Very busy restaurant and I’m not surprised as it’s a one of a kind restraunt and they have dishes that aren’t available commonly in anywhere else. Even though the place was packed we only had a short wait until our table was ready. We ordered our food and was reassured the food wouldn’t take long to come to our table - whilst we waited they gave us some complementary veggie spring rolls with a side of sweet chilly dipping sauce which was actually nice! - and before we knew it 10 mins later our food started arriving at our table - everything was amazing and very interesting - my favourite and the most popular was the smoked chicken however everything else was just as good! Overall great experience and I will keep coming back!

Authentic and great quality. It is hard to find restaurants that serve authentic tastes to far East Asian food rather than a modified westernised recipe with too much sauce or sugar. Chilli Padi did it just right. Such a gem, I'm so glad my friend brought me here. The Laksa chicken noodles were sooooo good. Spicy enough to make me ask for extra water but friendly enough for my friend to help herself for more servings. Reasonable prices too. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try real far East Asian food in Newcastle. Interior is clean, modern and decorated with a cute graffiti counter. Update: since my first visit, I've come here plenty of times for catching up with friends and even for a date. :P🌹 They do takeaways and deliveries too!

Food is amazing, can't wait to go back again. We ordered a few different mains with a couple of snacks to pick and mix from and so pleased we did, we just couldn't decide what to get it all sounded so amazing. Great size portions for the price but we were stuffed with everything we ordered. They kindly gave us a couple of containers to take away the food we couldn't manage. Service was great. We booked a table but we got there not long after 12 and wasn't too full but by time we left majority of the tables were full. The food comes out within minutes of ordering but can see in the kitchen it's cooked to order.

Good place to try new food. The only problem I had was that, some of the dishes were very sweet. Not something I personally prefer with spicy stuff. But overall I loved the place!

Love the food here, one of my favourite food places. The food seems authentic and isn’t washed down and made mild. I’ve started to try more things on the menu that 2 of my go to dishes love spicy food. The drinks could do with being fizzy though most of the drinks are flat. The food is fast to come out

This is the first time for me and the people I visited this restaurant with, from work. I was totally unaware of the dishes being served here, and the choices were far too many. The staff seemed quite busy, and therefore, I didn't want to inconvenience them by requesting a recommendation. I went with the Kongpo Chicken, my mistake, as the dish was sweet and that is not to my taste. It's unfortunate that I didn't know what to choose as I have had authentic Malaysian food at a friend's house, and I loved it, but I couldn't remember what it was called. It is quite pricey, so I would suggest to getting a recommendation of the type of dishes you like and not being disappointed with your choice like I was.

Six of us went to this resturant for dinner on one Friday evening. The resturant was super packed with mostly student age customers and a few families. The mix of people was an indication that it was attractive among locals. We were there to celebrate an occasion. The starters were average and the main course especially the chicken based Rendeng was awesome. My friends said they enjoyed Beaf as well. The tofu chicken curry was tasteless and the fish curry was too spicy. Overall it was a mixed experience. I will for sure visit for the chicken Rendeng.

Been here a few times in the past but not since Covid. Top choice for East Asian cuisine. The portions are quite big and will easily fill you up. Tom Yum Soup is easily one of the best on the menu. They bring out what is ready unless you ask, so be mindful if you’re expecting starters first or for everyone’s food to come together. Busy times the drinks can be a little slow. Other than that, this is a great place to eat.
