First time I’ve been to this Green King Pub today (03/11/23) and was pleasantly surprised. The pub is large and airy, yet surprisingly warm, the staff were lovely (shout out to Alex and Sarah). The drink was excellent and we ordered food from the two mains for 14.49 of gammon. It was a lovely thick piece too, the food was excellent. Well done to the chef and all the staff
We were lucky enough to win a competition and have dinner at the gatehouse. The meals were outstanding, my husband had a mixed grill and not one part of it wasn't Cooked to perfection. We will definitely go again.
Fancied a pub lunch and thought we would come here. I used to come here drinking in my younger years before heading into Newcastle, it was the meet up place. So walking through the doors 37 years later was a walk back into time. Obviously it's changed, but the reminders were there. It was quiet, which mid week I didn't expect it to be bursting at the seams. We both had Ciabatta sandwiches and sides plus a drink which were really nice. I had the sweet chilli chicken and my wife had the steak and cheese. The lady behind the bar was lovely and her service was excellent. We had a natter about my time here all those years ago and agreed that it should be more like 37 days not 37 years before our next visit. I think it would be the sooner rather than the later else they'll be serving food at my wake. Would recommend definitely
A friendly and inviting Greene King pub. Dog friendly too! We received excellent customer service on Sunday night. Thanks to the guy who gave our dog some ice cream. A special moment!
Had a lovely lunch with our grandson. Excellent service and food. The Gatehouse is very relaxing and has an enclosed garden and playground. We are regular customers and frequently visit with our family and friends.
Brilliant weekend the place was packed they had bongo bingo on Saturday night and a christening on Sunday. So good to see the place buzzing and we were still able to play are regular Sunday afternoon cards top marks.
An enjoyable visit on Friday. Our first time stopping by here. Friendly, helpful staff. Ideal garden area for children. Good drinks and reasonable food. We look forward to returning.
Had the small plates menu. 5 for 20. The mango tortilla wraps were the highlight. The other dishes were super tasty as well.
Great food, great service and happy customers. I forgot to order my kids burger initially but they sorted that as well.

I've been several times now for lunch, Sunday lunch and a few evening meals I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal. The food is always piping hot, even when we've been a group of 10. Sarah is a lovely lady and nothing seems too much trouble. Thank you Sarah and your team x
Food was lovely, the staff were great and we didn't have to wait long for our food and I felt it was very good value for the money, would definitely recommend it and will certainly be returning soon and for people's information it is dog friendly and they have dog friendly seating and items for dogs
Visited the Gatehouse on Thursday,hadn't been for quite a while but after hearing good things decided to give it a go...and we weren't disappointed. Great atmosphere and attentive staff from the moment we arrived,certainly a massive improvement on our last visit a few years ago. They'd recently had a new menu launch. Me and my wife had the smashed burgers which were delicious,the in-laws both opted for the steaks and were equally impressed with the quality and value. We are certainly returning over the bank holiday with friends and would highly recommend the Gatehouse to anyone 🍻👍
Not been here for a long time, and pleasantly surprised for a 'chain pub'. Good selection on menu, at sensible prices. Anyone else finding that pubs at large are keeping the heat off these days, though, not just this one? We didn't take coats off but it didn't spoil our meal or our time. Dog friendly .. specific areas for dogs/owners. Items for dogs in menu even!
It was only midday so there weren't many people but the service was excellent & it was a lovely warm welcoming place.First noticed dog friendly which is a 👍. Lovely big beer garden & plenty of space & a few things for children to enjoy.The food smelt lovely so will return & try .
Large clean pub with lovely friendly staff. They didn't have what I originally wanted to eat so I chose something else. When it came it was not hot enough, I returned it and the staff dealt with it quickly and efficiently. All in all a very good experience.
They accomodated our big group - 14 of us - without any hesitation. All the staff were polite and served us in a friendly manner.
Seven of us went for Boxing Day lunch with our two dogs. It's very spacious and bright thanks to the big windows looking out onto the garden.
The food was great and served quickly but the thing that made it special was the staff. They were all *so* friendly and helpful! I will definitely visit again next time I'm in the area.
