Great portion size, crisp batter on the fish and nice chips. Great service and fish was made fresh when I arrived, thank you!
I usually have a pea fritter & piece of Cod. The pea fritters are the best! Always really crispy, crunchy batter & loads of filling. Likewise, the fish batter is always crispy & the fish tastes fresh. Staff are lovely & friendly-no complaints!
Excellent fish and chips in the heart of Newbury.
Lots of options on the menu - although all the expected classics are there. All the fish dishes are tasty and well battered, and hold up well even for take away. They also offer a Doner Meat main, which is a nice change for party members who don’t fancy fish!
Lots of kids options, and plenty of interesting sides too. Portion sizes are very generous but not extreme, and lots of choices for drinks (albeit all of them simple cans or bottles).
There is some seating in store (although quite limited) - useful if you’re desperate for a place to stop and have a bite to eat, but clearly the store is mainly intended for take away rather than dining in.
Arrived after closing, yet treated to delicious fish and chips. Amazing taste, kind service. Great value for the price. Highly recommended!
My favourite item on the meal has to be the donor kebab and chips, its fulfilling, tasty and a bang for a buck. I order it every Friday and love it each time. Aside from the meal, the staff is very nice as well, especially the female manager who always welcomes me with a smile and its always nice talking to her. All I can say is that the food is perfect and the staff if welcoming, what more could I ask for?
Love it when fish n chips taste fresh and the batter is still crispy, good portion sizes, friendly staff and proper curry sauce! They even threw in a battered 'pig in blanket' which was so naughty but sooo nice. Proper chippy this, will definitely go back 👌
Fish was good, not oily. Chips were freshly made. Nice & crispy.

Amazing fish and chips and the portions was fantastic I have had a lot of fish and chips up and down the uk and these were some of the best I have ever had! Great friendly staff served with a smile. I will definitely be coming back again and again !!!
Food is good, average fish and chips. Service is unpredictable, most of the time takes a while to prepare food.

We had a delivery issue which wasn't the fault of this restaurant themselves.
The service from the restaurant was amazing and they went above and beyond to help me. The delivery company was 'okay'.
The restaurant manager did her best to try and put everything right for us and offered us another order the following night which I went and collected.
Unfortunately we did not receive the food that we ordered on the first evening
as the driver took more than one order and they mixed the orders up! I immediately called the restaurant who went above and beyond to help me. I also called the delivery company themselves who have given me a full refund... Just very very disappointed that drivers are being greedy and taking more orders than what the restaurant want them to take as their actions have caused other people to have inconveniences!!
I will continue to use The Tasty Plaice but I won't be getting it delivered, I will collect it personally myself.
Their food is tasty, fresh and hot! I will definitely be a regular customer there now!

The Staff is really very polite and cheerful. Quality and Taste is always as expected. Cod Fish & Battered sausage are my all time favourite . Superrb place must visit once .

I haven't had a good large proper fresh fish a chips in a long time the food and service was absolutely brilliant will visit again definitely.

Lovely fresh plaice and chips. :) My first time here but boy it was treat...it's great when the fish is cooked to order and the batter is so fresh! I'd like to also say thanks to to the hard working staff who were clearly very busy (with both walk in's and delivery) but had it all worked out and remained calm and friendly! A little bit of a wait but that only adds to the magic of a freshly cooked meal. Much appreciated and i'll see you again soon. :)
Decent chippy, not the very best and service a little chaotic. I waited quite a while, but guessing I timed it wrong.
Lots of delivery drivers seemed to be a priority and chips could have done with another few mins in the fryer.
But pretty good overall and a decent sized piece of fish large portion of chips even though I only ordered a normal portion so good value.
