A Cozy Haven in Newbury - The Plough on the Green
We had recently had the pleasure of visiting the Plough on the Green in Newbury, and it was a delightful experience. The ambiance of this pub is inviting, with a cozy and warm atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease.
The staff at the Plough on the Green were exceptionally friendly and kind. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with genuine smiles and a welcoming attitude. They were eager to assist, providing recommendations from the menu and ensuring my visit was enjoyable.
The variety of beverages and food offered at the Plough on the Green was impressive. Their menu featured a range of options to suit different preferences, and the quality of the dishes was top-notch. I particularly enjoyed their traditional Sunday Roast, which was delicious and well-prepared.
The pub had a pleasant outdoor seating area, allowing patrons to enjoy the beautiful weather and lush greenery while sipping on their drinks. Inside, the decor was charming, reflecting the pub's cozy character.
In summary, the Plough on the Green is a must-visit if you're in Newbury. The friendly staff, inviting atmosphere, and tasty offerings make it a wonderful spot to unwind and enjoy good company. I look forward to returning and exploring more of what this charming pub has to offer.
My daughter and I popped in last week for a quick lunch, with moderate expectations, having never been before. However we both thoroughly enjoyed really, really good burgers, and were looked after by friendly/jolly staff.
As a result we have booked to come back again tomorrow for lunch and are very much looking forward to it. I recommend the Plough on the Green as a great, straightforward, sensibly priced pub. There is a spacious garden too.
Visited on a warm Sunday evening & sat in their lovely, well kept beer garden while the locals were having a pub quiz - and very popular by the looks of how many busy tables they had inside!
5⭐️ Would love to visit again soon ❤️
We had not lived in Newbury for long and was looking for a dog friendly pub serving food. This is a gem' great food fantastic staff. Also covered outside dinning will make this our favourite.
What an amazing weekend spent at the Plough. Kirstie and her team helped me throw a 40th birthday party for my wife and I couldn't have done it without them. Food, decor, drinks and entertainment- incredible. Catered for everyone from 18-80! Will definitely be coming back very soon. Thank you so so much once again
What a lovely pub! Felt at home as soon as I walked in, LOVE it’s dog friendly, and the guy behind the bar Ewan was so polite and happy loved him! Will be back again soon!

Lovely pub & great food, massive improvements in just a year that it has had new management! Kirstie and Georgina are always so friendly and welcoming
Traditional pub serving burgers, steaks, substantial puddings, etc. well prepared with friendly service. Very small car park but plenty of nearby street parking. Ordering is at the bar. Modern contactless payment options

6 of us went for Sunday lunch yesterday (3 Adults, 3 Children) and were very impressed!
Friendly staff from the moment we phoned to book (Only 1hr in advance)to the moment we left.
Food was delicious and big portions on the roasts ! Very good value for money too compared to the local area, drinks and food.
Very child friendly and accomadating.
A great pub - keep up the good work ! 👏
Amazing! Sarah was so welcoming and helpful. The beer was outstanding and the food... WOW! I'll certainly be back! 👍
Have been going to the Plough on the Green regularly now for around a year. Since Kirstie and Robin took over in July 2022, the pub has only gone from strength to strength. Excellent food, well priced drinks, with a wide selection to choose from, very friendly staff, especially Dani and Georgina, and an overall wonderful, inviting atmosphere. They also give back to the local community with various charity raffles and weekly games, where a healthy part of the proceeds go to excellent causes such as Dingley's Promise. In addition, they extend a warm welcome to any customer, be they new or regular, and offer some great evenings to be had, such as the weekly poker night as well as the good old pub quiz! In my eyes, the best pub in Newbury, keep up the good work guys!
This is an update from my previous experience around 2 years ago (please see below). I had vowed not to go back but as it is local to me and under new management i thought i would give it a shot!
What a difference!!!
It just shows the comparison between the new management and previous so called management.
Very friendly atmosphere, Staff available to serve without waitibg in long ques, I decided to have a bite to eat and i must say the food is the best it has EVER BEEN!
I will for sure be back and thank you for an enjoyable evening... *
*Previous review*....
(Staff were very rude and unprofessional. After reserving a table we decided to leave.
I have now added to this review due to the fact the response was rude and totally inaccurate. We were not late for our table so you must have us mixed with another upset customer. We were sat at our reserved table for 5-10mins. We had children as many will know it can be hard to keep them sat at the table so they did wander. I totally understand that restrictions are in place and if your staff were slightly more professional and empathetic in there response to our children I would have no need to review. Your bar lady was abrupt, rude and coming from your response to a review I can understand why.
In future maybe you should take reviews in a constructive manner rather than trying to divert any blame away. Stay professional)
