My Mum and I were travelling up for work, and happened to find this place on Google as a place to eat nearby - thank goodness we did! Food was exceptional value, the Sunday Roast was delicious, and the service from both girls was top class. Lovely atmosphere, and broke up our long journey really nicely - we will definitely be popping in again if we pass this way! 10/10

We went here for a meal on the way through from seeing friends. Never been here before but will again I am sure. I don't eat meat so the staff were great in doing a lovely Veggie crumble in a cheese sauce. With a side of chips and salad. I was fully satisfied after that. Highly recommended. Friendly staff. Good prices.

Signposted from the A1 and very close to it. It is one of only a few pubs on the A1 that are still open and well worth finding. Nice pub, reasonable prices, next to a level crossing, and you can sit outside and watch trains go by. What is there not to like?

Just had the new years day brunch, thank you it lived up to its reputation , delicious, so lovely. I enjoyed the special tasty sausages and i thought the pancakes finished it off so well cherries filling and ice cream. Such a good contrast to the seasonal food ,just what we needed .

Went for food and drinks but mainly for the bartender, he's a beautiful man and pours the best beer going.

Four hungry tree surgeons with ample man glitter were welcomed with smiles and tasty Sunday dinner to keep them going for the afternoon. We got extra meat and gravy which was most appreciated (yes it's the small things that make outstanding service, my business has thrived on them) and the pretty waitress even put up with our uncouth banter. Friendly bar and tasty food- we'll be back when next in the area. Thanks

Resonable price for great food and service. Far from skimpy on the food portion, might need to take a doggy bag home. We have been quite a few times and never been disappointed. Dog friendly too, a big plus for that.

Went there to have a drink and watch 'Flying Scotsman' pass. On arrival the landlady offered us free tea and coffee while waiting for the train to pass. Not many do that this day and age. A nice gesture. Well done. Will have a meal there in the near future.

Best Sunday carvery I’ve ever had. It gets super busy so get in early. Good beers, homely atmosphere and the staff are really nice too.

Well worth a visit, we were staying at near by camp site and popped out for as bite to eat. Really friendly atmosphere, the food was great and very reasonably priced. Right next to the railway line, which was cool watching the trains go past.

Dined in the Inn with a couple of friends. The food was very good and tasty, lots of it too! Very friendly place. I'm sure this would be a lovely summer evening place to sit outside and train spot!

We recently held our wedding reception at The Great Northern Inn. The pub was closed in the evening for our exclusive use and staff could not have been more helpful or accommodating. We welcomed the helpful suggestions that allowed our evening to flow effortlessly. The buffet was also amazing. Thankyou so much for making our evening so special.

What a find! Not only is it a lovely walk from Caunton, you get a lovely local Plum Porter and not so local Italian Panini. Staff were great and really friendly, we'll most definitely be walking back here

6 out of 5 stars. ✨✨✨✨✨✨ Staff could not be more helpful, food is out of this world, and the beer was cold and plentiful. Stayed overnight in the car park in our motorhome free of charge. A perfect experience.

Stayed here overnight with 2 small grandchildren (and a small dog) in our motorhome. We didn't need ehu, so we were allowed to stay over for free. We were made very welcome. We were joined by 2 other members of family and had drinks in the afternoon and then 4 of us called later for meals. The children had cheeseburgers and chips, and I had crispy chicken and hash brown. Husband ordered black pudding stilton burger, but unfortunately they had run out of black pudding burgers The burgers were massive and the rustic chips were dark and very tasty. Our dog was allowed in as long as on a lead. We felt secure as the main gates were locked overnight.

We just called in on the way down to our son's for the bank holiday weekend, the service was very quick and friendly and the food was excellent, portion size was very good so much so we couldn't eat it all, will definitely be one we go back to when visiting our son and daughter in law

The place looks a little run down but we were greeted very warmly and given permission to stay in our motor home in their car park overnight. Although right next to the train track there were no trains from about 10.30 until almost 9am to disturb us.. very quiet. We ate good Grimsby fish , all food and drink reasonably priced. 2 x Sunday roast dinners £16 for example. There were hand sanitising bottles, also a nice children's play area. The outside dining tables were wobbly and old..not easy to clean . We had a pleasant stay and we thank them .
