Brilliant evening of music. Alerted by a friend that an alumnus of the legendary band Big Star would be playing that evening I drove down to Newark. The landlord had put together his own Big Star tribute act as a warm-up and they performed brilliantly. Jody Stephens, the only surviving Big Star me
Not bad. Was kind of hoping for a little more or a flying circus vibe inside rather than a rock pub. Some good ales and would have been nice to see some good, clowdy or scrumpy ciders but they are rare these days
Some furniture slightly falling apart and repaired with tape but otherwise cool.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. The upstairs room is a fabulous place for an intimate gig. We saw the Cinelli Brothers who were superb.
Great atmosphere, plenty of good drinks and a huge beer garden.
Great atmosphere, love the Monty Python references, fantastic music and selection of European beers. Highly recommended
Many chose beers, live band, nice ppl
Great town boozer with good selection of beer and brilliant, large beer garden. Regular live music is a massive added bonus
What a gem! Superbly kept delicious ales, wonderful rock music on CD with regular live bands also and a fantastic homage to Monty Python. It made our day when we discovered this pub especially when they had Thornbridge JAIPUR on the day we visited!
Always great selection of beers (including Belgian on tap), good vibes and regular live music.
Easily the best pub in Newark. Always an amazing range of drinks, and plenty of atmosphere. Live music is order of the day, and it’s fantastic to see so much time and effort out into developing the live Music scene . Most definitely ‘not’ your average run of the mill setting.
